As part of this, starting in 2022, four teams will be giving up a home game for an international game. It will be from the conference that has the extra home game on their schedule. The AFC gets the extra home game in 2021, so since this starts a year later, 4 NFC teams will lose their extra home game to an international site. I believe it's on a rotating basis, so each team will lose a home game once every eight years. Teams (i.e. Jacksonville) may still lose another home game, but that would be on a voluntary basis.

I've never been a massage guy, but I think it would only take me 3-4 different ones max to figure out which one was the best and then keep going back to that one.

Right. That alone is another red flag that he's a pervert frankly. I know I'm a little close to this because of my wife and all of our friends, but there are all kinds of weird stuff about this that means it's more fire than smoke in my opinion.

For most normal people getting a massage is like getting your haircut. You either always go back to the same person or you at least go to the same facility/spa like Massage Envy or whatever. Going around even a city as huge as Houston and having a minimum of at least, what -- 45 massage therapists we're up to now over even a time frame of four years is weird, especially considering pro sports teams have massage therapists on staff for sports massage.

Here's another red flag. Most pro athletes will admit (or have to my wife and her co-workers at least) that most relaxation or even deep tissue massages from a spa like the Wynn don't really do much to help their muscles and they tend to only go and get them when they're with their wives or girlfriends as a "spa day out" for them as a couple. The athletes she's worked on -- Kevin Garnett, Reggie Bush and a couple others -- were always with their WAGs.

It doesn't mean it's weird if an athlete truly wants to just get a Swedish or relaxation massage as there are other aspects to it like stress reduction, but it's just another weird thing about all this.

(Note: Because of the need for amount of pressure applied for therapeutic reasons, most professional massage therapists employed by pro sports teams are men.)

Sadly, that may also factor in. But it is true that professional athletes have therapeutic needs that some (though not all) women are not strong enough to handle. This isn't a "women can't do it" argument, since there's plenty of men who wouldn't be strong enough either. It just requires a LOT of strength regardless of the gender of the therapist.

Yup. When I was in Korea (the first time) and I was working out so much more than I am now, I went to the little Thai lady off base and got the hour long, fold me into a pretzel massage. It was perfect.

In Germany, there was a girl who worked out at my gym that was also a massage therapist. I'd see her twice weekly at a half hour at a time.

Once I got to ABQ, my wife (then gf) had a free massage for a friend at Massage Envy. Worthless. Utterly worthless. Who the fuck massages under a sheet? Mormons? I eventually would go to the chiropractor at the UFC gym once in a while. Dude is actually internet famous and I had no idea until after the fact. That place was great. Not a massage, obviously, but I'd rather get adjusted then massaged since the quality was so poor.

Now, have I been to a rub-n-tug? Yes. But I was in Latvia. That's a thing you can do there. It was great, but ultimately not my thing.

He's probably fine collecting almost $18 million this year before easy-to-reach bonus of $750K ($10 mill guaranteed, $20 mill dead cap if they cut him, so he ain't going anywhere under the lower cap this season) and he'll probably just beat Darnold for the job, anyway.

Right. But, if it were an even competition, not one where the coaching staff is incentivized to make Darnold the starter, I would bet on Bridgewater.

I expect they view Darnold as higher ceiling than Bridgewater in part because he's 4 1/2 years younger and he has better arm talent (and that their staff can coach him up). But, I don't know that Darnold is ever going to be better than Bridgewater, much less next year.

but isn't it worth finding out, especially if you're not enamored with your potential options at No. 8 and given the fact that you 1. signed Bridgewater as your (bad pun) bridge QB and 2. it saves you $21M to cut him after 2021?

and if it doesn't look promising after the fifth-year option, you go for it in the 2023 draft because the 2022 class looks very nondescript so far.

I totally understand why the Panthers did it and I think what they gave up was comparable/better value than what the Colts gave up for Wentz. Darnold is only 15 months older than Mac Jones.

I think the Panther's draft pick becomes much more valuable now that they don't need to pick a QB. It seems there's really good non-QB talent at the top of the draft with many teams needing qbs, so now they should get a really good player or get a good return trading the pick.

there's also this too. that pick could be super valuable if there's a team eyeing a QB still on the board. this could open up the acquisition of another first-round pick (plus maybe some of the mid-late capital you just gave up)

Panthers drafting a QB that falls to them is still in play. Wouldn't they want Fields, for example, playing behind Darnold for a year or two?

No, not when you give up that kind of draft capital for a QB. You want that QB to be your starter for years to come, not to serve as a mentor to a rookie.

I think they calculated that Fields or anyone else they consider a better prospect than Darnold wouldn't be available at 9.
