It's the sixth version of The Swamp. What could possibly go wrong?

But...they got like 25 yards of field position by punting. At likely best, they stop cleveland 3 and out and get the ball back about 15 yards worse than they did by passing up a chance to go for it. With several minutes gone. At worst, they give up a TD drive like what happened. And they had all momentum too.
I think that punt ends up inside the 10 about 75% of the time (I know nothing about the Steelers' special teams so that could be wrong) and the Browns offense was stalling. The other factor is how much do you trust your offense and the plays you have on a short yard play, which is an aspect I don't think is factored enough when people say it's a no brainer to go for it on 4th or to go for 2. And there was so much time left. Maybe I'm just getting conservative in my old age.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 11:04 pmBut...they got like 25 yards of field position by punting. 12 points with 14 minutes left. Time is barely a factor.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 11:19 pm You are defending this and it is borderline indefensible. It doesn't make sense from an analytics standpoint, and old school momentum standpoint, or anything in-between. Time was as precious to the Steelers at that point as anything else, and, AT BEST (assuming no fumble of the punt) the Steelers were giving away at least two minutes of clock instead of trying to pick up a 4th and 1 when they had all the momentum in the world.
Cleveland has a powerhouse running game and a good line. Time was a huge factor, they can chew all sorts of clock at any point.EdRomero wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 11:24 pm12 points with 14 minutes left. Was it 2 or 3 possessions before that the Browns did nothing and they were dealing with a ton of O-line injuries? Maybe Tomlin counted too much on recent events. I don't believe I'm defending Tomlin; maybe you're right.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 11:29 pmCleveland has a powerhouse running game and a good line. If his offensive line was merely average in pass blocking, he wouldn't have made it to week 5.Gunpowder wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 1:27 pm I'm over the Ben Roethlisberger experience, btw. He looks like late-career Eli Manning, but they'll probably fall for all of these fluff numbers and ride it one more year. People had been saying that he was playing well this year and at no point did I have any idea what they were watching. This WR group is ridiculously good and were mostly just wasted.
What are you talking about? He threw for over 500 yards and an NFL-record number of completions (47) last night! 51, if you count the ones the Browns caught.Gunpowder wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 1:27 pm I'm over the Ben Roethlisberger experience, btw. Or drop $4.99 on Tweetlogix and never see another promoted tweet, poll, or tweet someone else liked.
Cleveland jumping to that massive lead played right into what the Steelers do well on offense - throw little short passes. The Browns ended up playing deep zones and having back-seven tackling drills most of the night.Gunpowder wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 1:27 pm I'm over the Ben Roethlisberger experience, btw. It's not that they do that well, it's all they can do because Eli doesn't want to take those hits anymore.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 5:29 pmCleveland jumping to that massive lead played right into what the Steelers do well on offense - throw little short passes. This is fair, their line graded out poorly in some analyses this year, especially pass pro. Getting the ball out quickly kept him as the least-sacked QB in the league.Gunpowder wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 5:30 pmIt's not that they do that well, it's all they can do because Eli doesn't want to take those hits anymore.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 5:29 pmCleveland jumping to that massive lead played right into what the Steelers do well on offense - throw little short passes. He's gonna throw for 600 in a 56-45 loss next year
