I need a new place to put my money under -- Mattress recs?

So I’ve had a king mattress since day one. Wife had an awesome bedroom set made out of cherry wood that waS a a queen. But it had a footboard and I’m just tall enough to hate footboards. So her parents gifted us a king mattress and it’s been same bed ever since. 20 years this past summer


And we have had sex cause I humblebragged.

I've had the same king mattress that my ex-wife's parents gave us for 16 years now. It's possibly my most prized possession.

I'm in the market as well. Need a new king for us, and a twin for the boys room. Thinking of memory foam for us, and cheap for the boys.

Went cheap seven years ago. Memory foam from the internet. It's horrendous now. Scoping out sleep numbers and coils this afternoon.

We went for a Casper about a month ago. It’s worlds better than my previous.

Ended up with a Serta (or was it Sealy?) Firm, plush top, King size (for the price of a queen). Only needed the mattress and delivery and take away of the old one, totaled less than $1000, and was able to 0% interest it for 2 years. Delivers on Monday.

So it just dawned on me I need a mattress topper to disperse the heat that my Tempurpedic memory foam mattress retains.

It dawned on me because my wife was out of town Friday night and I got a chance to sleep alone in our bed. It wasn't until Saturday night when I woke up overnight in a sweat that I realized I either needed to break up the queen into twin beds or I needed a topper. Or hell, go back to a coil mattress.

Anyone have any input on a mattress topper?

I don't want to throw a bunch of $ at it (Tempurpedic mattress is probably 12 years old).
