Isn’t there some cliché saying in legal circles that goes something like, “He who represents himself in court has a fool for a lawyer.”

Absolutely. You need to remove the emotional attachment when making legal arguments, and when you are confident you are right, you can't see the flaws in your logic. In Rudy's case, his arrogance and ego are off the charts, and he can't see that he is mentally unfit and emotionally unstable. I would love to see him represent himself!

Representing himself and going for the insanity plea might be crazy enough to work.

That trailer looks like it could be one of the worst movies ever made! I want to see it, but in a way that can't make them any money. It'd be perfect if Mnuchin is bankrolling her desire for a career and he loses a fortune.

Trump could be his own lawyer and still beat the charges because he Senate won't convict. So, is this news?

I think it’s news when an entire defense team walks away right before trial. But yeah, at most it’ll end up 55-45 to convict.

And I’m sure the GOP will cry that he needs a fair trial and postpone indefinitely, then when he has no defense, say it proves the Dems never had a valid charge because they couldn’t convict even with no defense. Trump won’t appear personally.

Yeah was about to say the same. This happens less then a week after meeting with McCarthy.

He could go in admit to Jan 6th and other things and still not be convicted. Most Republicans senators have already said how they plan to vote before even hearing evidence.

They said this parting was mutual but I’m sure it was 80% DT getting rid of them.

Also, how long do we need to wait for the NY AG to go public with charges? I was told they were coming as Trump immediately walked out of the White House on Inauguration Day.

If you needed more proof that NewsMax intentionally lied to feed their audience election fraud bullshit, look at how they are reacting to the threat of a lawsuit. Defamation is damn hard to prove, because you need to prove they knew they were lying. Sort of ironic that as President-Elect, Trump was on a mission to loosen libel laws so he could sue media outlets for saying not nice things about him. Also crosses into irony that Pillowman was there to talk about Twitter silencing him to propagate NewsMax's agenda that the MSM and Big-Tech are silencing Conservative voices, and the anchor shouts over him so we can't hear what he is saying.

Once again, hires only the best and brightest. OTOH, since we all know he isn't going to pay his attorneys, you get what you pay for. Spelling "United" as in United States wrong in the first sentence. I know they are insanely rushed, what with getting hired to defend a Presidential impeachment one week before their response is due, but that is just unreal.

You can tell these are the kind of people who run it through spell check and count that as proofreading.

Exactly. My guess is they were just under an incredible time crunch, and spent 75% of their time talking their client out of making insane arguments and soothing his fragile ego. But still, this is just such an enormous case (even with a victory a forgone conclusion), and you have to know the entire world is reading your brief. Ok, maybe just the law nerds actually read it, but the entire world will see your glaring errors.

Good lord!

That's something I warned my 18 year old community college students about doing.

I guess when the outcome is predetermined, it really doesn't matter what these meatheads do.

And he doesn't want to pay for it: Scoop: Fees — not just strategy — blew up Trump's legal team
The notoriously stingy former president and his lead lawyer, Butch Bowers, wrangled over compensation during a series of tense phone calls, sources familiar with their conversations said. The argument came even though Trump has raised over $170 million from the public that could be used on his legal defenses.

Baseball caps violated our dress code, so for those more decorated Trumpets, most meals began with an unwanted amuse-bouche of flambéed persecution complex.
