I take issue with Golden Girls since it was already a popular song before Golden Girls was a show.

Yes, the Lonely Boy also wrote Thank You for Being a Friend.

a good theme song would be Monk's "It's a Jungle Out There," by Randy Newman.
eta: the original theme song done by Jeff Beal is good, the way Frasier's intro theme opens the show unobtrusively. But Adrian Monk required a Randy Newman treatment.

That one too. Another example of a theme song that sets the stage for the show.
Re: The Official TV Theme Show Thread
You know your TV theme was (mostly) good if it was sampled in a hip hop song:

Re: The Official TV Theme Show Thread
I think this one was legit good in a light-classical way. It's like you told Johann Strauss "Hey, write a theme for a show where this old lady goes to a different town every week and someone gets killed but also it's meant to be generally upbeat and whimsical."

And since Sesame Street was already mentioned in this thread, I give you Olivia on Sesame Street, Alaina Reed, as well as a teenage Regina King, who I just mentioned over in the Movies thread.

I like the theme from The Jeffersons, I also find it useful to get ear worms out my head.
