I’ll try to do a quick streaming service check here in a little bit to see if it’s available anywhere for free.

If you’ve never checked out Don Winslow’s novels, especially The Cartel trilogy, you absolutely should. Very few people have spent more time studying and writing about the US/Mexico border and the ongoing drug war.

I will hopefully be able to make it, but the internet company I’m trying to get to install internet in my new place in PV are being difficult and the language barrier isn’t helping, so we’ll see.

It does have the usual rental places, doesn't seem to be streaming for free any place.

A movie directed by Oliver Stone with a 50% critics score at Rotten Tomatoes and 54% audience score is really a strong pitch for it. Bad/good, like/hate, all options on the table.

I am pleased with this development. And, just to knock a couple things out ahead of time...

1. Starting point will be right after the Universal logo (100th Anniversary!) fades to black.

2. Pause point will be around 1:04 or thereabouts - the scene ends shortly after John Travolta gets out of a car and cuts to Benicio del Toro.

3. Has anyone other than me who's going to watch this Thursday already seen it?

I used to be a big Oliver Stone fan actually. It's hard to find much fault with Wall Street and Platoon. JFK was a little deranged a times, but it's about as good a 200-minute movie as you can make. He really started to lose the script with Natural Born Killers though. (I admit liking The Doors when it came out but I can't stand the band anymore and the movie is nigh unwatchable.)

Stone certainly drifted after a tremendous start to his career. Took a directors class my senior year - Scorsese, Stone, and Tarantino. We also watched "Salvador" by Stone, which I remember was very good, but do not remember anything about it now.
