Vaccine successes? Happy your parent's might not be facing mortal danger soon? You old fucks getting protected?

I got mine on Tuesday, except it was a Tetanus booster instead of a ModernaEspecial. I forgot how sore your arm can get after shots.

Can't believe I never wrote up my rabies adventures (I think I also got a tetanus booster at the same time) but I guess I leaned on FB for that one.

If all went well/on time, my mom got her first shot about 15 minutes ago.

Just talked to my parents today. My mum has now finally gotten both shots, and my father finally got his first one. This REALLY makes me breathe easier.

On the other hand, my mother told me that when she told my right wing brother, he laughed and told her it was completely unnecessary.

My wife just went from first shot on April 16th to "we can fit you in this weekend if you drive up to the (editor's note: hour-plus away goddamn crazytown) New Hampshire Motor Speedway" to "hi, this is the Walgreens 10 minutes away, would you like to come on Friday and April 2nd for both shots?"

Got dose two so recently that they just yelled at me for walking around too soon. Hopefully doesn’t knock me on my ass the way it did my wife.

Awesome, Rass.

I signed up for a shot next Wednesday. I'm assuming it'll be okay, even though I had to certify I meet the eligibility requirements, which are currently 65 but will be lower by next week.

My mom got her first shot the other day.

A few hours ago I got my second shot of the Moderna variant.

So far I feel fine. We'll see what tomorrow morning brings though.

As to other shots, I've been forced to get vaccinated for so many things over the last 19.5 years that getting shots is no big deal to me.

The worst ever shot I received was small pox. Luckily if I ever have to get that shot again it won't be nearly as debilitating.

Where is Derrick?

Also, over the pond, I've had my first jab, of the frozen variety, next one in just over a month...

When I saw a Withnail and I comment, I thought it'd be the Bat Signal for Zumba to emerge, and then Tom makes a comeback.

Last time I was here, the Titans were about to beat the Chiefs and had an ex Steeler TE coaching them.

A cool vaccine story...

How a Holocaust Survivor Showed Up for a Vaccine and Charmed a Hospital
The hospital typically vaccinates hundreds of people a day, depending on supply, so Ms. Baptiste cannot focus on one person for too long. But Mira Rosenblatt, an older woman wearing a raspberry beret and pushing a bright blue walker, got her attention.

“She said, ‘I am not nervous. I’ve been through way worse,’” Ms. Baptiste recalled. “Then she started telling her story.”

It's the morning after. I feel as tired as I always do on the mornings after not getting enough sleep with a CPAP.

We'll see how the day goes.

Edit:

Low grade cold. Minor chills. Feels exactly like that one day a year when the seasons change and all I want to do is be lazy with a bunch of blankets and drink coffee. If I were motivated (which I never am), I could workout right now. I've been to the gym in worse condition than this. Only difference with this is my shoulder feels like it was punched.

Am I right to assume that this is how is react to COVID?

Bumping this because it's mine and the pun was clever.

3 hours in. The arm soreness is real.

Both parents got their first shot last week. No schedule for 2nd shot yet. No side effects at all. I heard the 2nd shot I'd worse?

Just got back from my second shot. My first shot, I think I inadvertently tightened up or something, because I bled a little and it stung a decent amount. Pretty sore arm, but, meh, nothing in the grand scheme of things. I'm old enough to be pretty constantly sore after yard work and long walks, so...

Today? One of those shots where I didn't even know she was done as she was placing the band-aid. Hopefully a good omen, but we'll see tomorrow how things are feeling.

Arm has been pretty sore since last night (second Pfizer shot yesterday). Also starting to feel achy, but that's just come on and might be related to the hike we just did.

Lying in bed waiting for baseball to start. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

Despite what I just told work, I'm feeling absolutely fine so far.

Gonna finish packing and hit the road for Richmond as soon as the wife gets back from shuttling The Girl to her second dose.

NJ must’ve opened up a bunch, because I got an email this afternoon to register, and the big site in South Jersey had availability today.

Earlier this week I got a text from the local hospital system that I was eligible to make an appointment. I put in that I had no medical conditions, because at the time I didn't meet the BMI. When they lowered the BMI to include my fat ass, the site didn't let me change my submission. For fun, I went through the process, and they had maybe 5 sites with available appointments for the next day. Most had multiple times available. I think NJ, at least my region, is ready for the age restrictions to come down further. Another CVS near me started giving vaccines on Wednesday. They couldn't book all their appointments, so my wife was able to snag a spot today.

Yup, seems wide open in Essex now so I signed up yesterday (J&J) with thousands of slots remaining. Technically BMI and asthma so I’m fine no longer holding the door open for everyone else.

(In a very fucked up sidenote, I just realized tonight my date is the one year anniversary of the dad here’s passing.)

Today was the first time the online portal for the city where the wife works didn’t get booked within minutes of opening for the week. And they got an allocation of 1000 doses for two weeks from now so hopefully we’re reaching saturation here.

Cmon dude. You voluntarily put your health at risk for years, and you’re anxious that this vaccination may be an issue? Get the shot, please.

SC, you’re mixing up anxiety with nervousness.

I’ve seen really bad anxiety. My son is having another bout of it now. TT, if canceling the shot (or just deciding not to do it) is necessary to let you sleep at night, the shot can wait.

Just picture the shot administrator and everyone at the vaccination site naked and you’ll be fine.
