I was told minimal pain. The right side was fine, the left side... not so much. Hurt like Hell and I felt a pinch on that side for years. Not constant, but it was a thing.

Would do it again. Very much worth it.

This. Nothing more unsettling than looking between your legs and seeing a wisp of smoke drift up...like a goddamn cigarette.

God, this thread makes me feel fortunate that I never needed to have the procedure done. (Didn't impregnate my wife until she was 40, and now she's past menopause.)

Yeah, you can read and plan but only to a certain extent. There's no way to really understand raising a human until its happening. Congrats, its fun.

If you start feeding them from a frisbee they will learn to chase it at an early age. Not sure if this helps them learn to throw it, but it is a start.

Congrats, BSF! The biggest lesson, and you only learn it when you have a second child, is not to worry about little things. Maybe it's impossible until your first survives infancy, but everything seems like a major deal, and with the second you let them stick forks in the electrical sockets and realize they'll turn out ok. Probably turn out better than the first, because you didn't freak out and hover.

You'll love it!

Congratulations - that is great news.

When we were expecting our first we got some great advice for those moments when you get stressed about the health of the future baby - go to a park or school yard and just look at all the healthy kids you see. And remember that their parents were as stressed as you at some point.

Hey a lot of you posted some really kind messages and I got a fair share of texts and DMs too regarding our news, but it turns out we were a little unlucky and we're all gonna have to wait for another go around for BSFJr. Thank you for the encouragement and the kind words. No need for much more, just didn't want to leave my internet homeys in the lurch. Y'all are great. I'll elaborate below but will spare people that don't want details.
[+] spoiler
We lost what was never truly a baby somewhere between 8 and 10 weeks. Apparently this is what's called a "silent miscarriage" in which we were in fact pregnant but an embryo never developed inside the gestational sac, and the body hasn't passed it naturally. No heartbeat, no sign of life at any point, which is making this much easier in my eyes. Can't really lose something you don't ever have in the first place. There's worse details I'll spare you, but we're doing fine emotionally and the wife is recovering physically far faster that I would have expected with what her body went through to get her back to more or less square one. Thanks for all your messages. The trying is the fun part, so we'll get back on that train soon I'm sure.

Sorry, BSF. I'm likely going to phrase this shitty, but we went through one and don't look back on it with any sadness because if it didn't happen, we don't have our oldest. One of those rare "things happen for a reason" deals I actually believe in.

Same. The only sadness we had was really with the coldness of how it was announced and handled, but we feel the same about Ashy.
