I think my two national title game teams being knocked out before the Sweet 16 is a personal record.

Iowa's gonna go for 90 and still lose by 20.

Giving up a dunk every possession probably doesn't help.

Timme's facial hair is fantastic. Well paired with the headband. Also I know he is a forward but expect him to play more like a forward. Then I see him basically face guarding his responsibility at the 3-point line.

Also is looking very 70s rock band member (long hair shaggy beard)...but his media guide pictures make him him appear to be doing the Larry Bird look alike contest.

The last minute of that game only makes sense if you know that the spread was -15.5

Having seen a bunch of it here I have to say TSNs NCAA Tournament coverage is embarrassingly good.

It’s not a question of if Will Wade gets busted by the NCAA it’s really only a question of when and where.

That was a regular season quit from LSU. Weird. Seldom see teams not foul down 8 with 30+ seconds left in the tournament.

Yeah.. That was fucking weird. I mean, blah blah obvious thing I'd say...

But there was a lot of time left when they backed off.

Sweet 16 games are on Saturday/Sunday, not Thursday/Friday. Very strange.

Yeah, I questioned this in real time as well. Had to at least do one more foul there and see how it plays out.

Again, all COVID-related. Need at least five days in between each set of rounds for testing and travel protocols.

Interesting. Last time this happened we got a Final Four with Penn and Indiana State.

But teams aren't travelling.

I wonder....if the NCAA is using the Covid 'opportunity' to test out if having Sweet 16 games on the weekend, and then Regional Finals on Monday/Tuesday, will give them a bump in ratings.

Is the Final Four still set for Saturday/Monday?

Along with DePaul and Michigan State.

One time a friend and I, on a long road trip, tried to remember as many final fours as we could. It was scary how many we could get all four teams. Those years of reading SI paid off.

The famous Magic and Bird Final Four. In Salt Lake City.

That was the Final Four that got me into college hoops. But because of DePaul, not Magic and Bird

DePaul was so dominant those next few years ... and lost their opening game as a number one seed in 1980, and 1981, *and* 1982.

Yeah, but I have to believe the testing protocol is still partly to blame. Also with all surviving teams having to remain in the bubble I assume they just decided to make it a uniform five days between each set of rounds (since yes, the national semifinals/final is still on the usual Saturday/Monday schedule).

Damn I just realized even that isn't right. Who the fuck knows then. (The semifinal/final is Saturday/Monday, but that's only three days between the final Elite 8 game and semis.)

Probably scheduling around Passover and the impacts it will have to ratings. I mean had BYU won they would have scheduled around their game time, so it clearly is respect for religious observance.

They set it up so if a player/coach had tested positive prior to traveling for the first round and needed to quarantine (Geno Auriemma, for example), they could do so, then be eligible to travel and join the team during the Sweet 16, should their team still be playing.
