High Fidelity was very decent and better when it strayed from the source material. Whole season could be worth it alone for one three word line reading.

This is driving me crazy. Does anyone recall a TV show (or maybe a movie) fairly recently where the mother has a DNR and requested one of the sons be the one to pull the plug and the brother is absolutely bullshit that he doesn't get to do it?

The company that made the series about Canadian Game Shows has created a short documentary about "Test Pattern" - the first show I worked on.

Be warned, I appear shirtless a couple of times.

Yeah, really enjoy these documentaries. Even though I never saw the show, they do a great job making it interesting and compelling. I can feel how much fun everyone had making the show and being contestants. Very cool. The host looks like a blend of John Candy and Sam Kinneson, with the personality skewing way more towards Candy.

Dan was a great guy. Worshipped Letterman.

Funny story - they reran some episodes of that show like a decade later. So I'm watching with my son who was 4 or 5 at the time, and the question category was "Ben Johnson" (show was recorded just a few months after he was busted for the second time. So I brought out the questions as Ben Johnson (wearing a gold medal, a Canada t-shirt and NO blackface) smoking a butt and drinking a beer.

Looked at the camera and said "Don't worry Canada, I won't let you down again" and blew smoke at the camera.

My son freaked out and yelled that I shouldn't smoke and ran from the room.

(I'd quit when I got married)

I'm thinking the all-time "greatest show to have on in the background while working" has to be Friends. You never really ever miss anything, but you can always jump right back in if you get busy and don't pay attention for a half hour.

Killing time watching the latest SNL with Daniel Craig. It’s been pretty good. Dratch back for Debbie downer was great.

And the cold open with warren was amazing. So sad she is out.

I watched a bit of it, including that Debbie Downer skit. You liked that? I guess i never really found it funny, and it didn't work for me last night either. And I had nearly forgotten the era where all SNL skits had to have their own intro theme songs. Embarrassing.

I'm with Shirley here. I don't understand why that show has such a massive cast yet feels the need to supplement it with old cast members. (Rachel Dratch for one has been on a lot lately).

"Sleeping On The Couch" was a highlight of that show.

Just watched the series finale of Silicon Valley and thought it was a perfect ending to the show. Not going to throw any spoilers, but the final episode was shown as a documentary filmed 10 years later, reflecting back on what happened, perfectly (well, almost) closing the loop on the characters and whether the company succeeded. Extremely well done, and a great way to shift from a quirky character-driven show to a more serious way to tell the narrative. And while I loved the show, the up and downplot twists, especially with Gavin, were getting old, so it was the right time to end the series.

I might sign back up for HBO Go. Totally forgot about SV... One of my favorite shows, but they don't run ads for it other than on their own feed.

Saw an ad for Westworld, which looked totally bad ass. Maybe wait for that and pick the subscription back up.

As I believe has been mentioned upthread, McMillions is so worth six hours of your time. A true crime story that continues to get crazier up until the final frame.
