Saw people mocking that tweet earlier (before it was deleted) and something was going on that caused the picture to take forever to load but I stuck with it and it was totally worth it.

Philip served for England in WWII, so I’m not doubting his patriotism, but it was surprising to learn that three of his sisters married Nazis.

His uncle by marriage was also a Nazi sympathizer, likely not the only one in the British royal family by a long shot.

That’s somebody who doesn’t give enough of a fuck about anybody to realize how horrible wearing that symbol is. That’s somebody who has been brought up in an environment that probably thinks that’s funny and encourages that kind of behavior.

Don’t excuse that shit. Fuck him.

I dunno. He was 20, fucking around, and back in 2005 Nazis weren't even real, they were either long-dead history or the bad guys in movies. (Unlike today where they are real again.)

I mean, we sieg-heiled each other in high school back in the day.

Which is odd because I went to Yeshiva as a kid. Fat kids end up the oven cuz we don't run so fast.

It is likely that fat kids don't stray too far from ovens because they think cakes and pies come from ovens...

See, we didn’t do anything remotely like that. FFS, I grew up on stories of occupation and the Holocaust. My grandfather was Jewish, and while he had emigrated here in 1921, his brother was excluded under the racist Immigration Act of 1924, and he and his wife and kids were sent from Budapest to Auschwitz in 1944. The brother (my great-uncle) survived, presumably because he was useful for slave labor. But the others didn’t.

Just because someone who’s young and stupid does something insensitive doesn’t mean they’re a Nazi sympathizer.

It's definitely apples to pomegranates if you're talking about Harry vs. his great uncle.

Exactly. Edward apparently actually sympathized with the Nazis. Harry dressed up as a bad guy for a costume party but crossed the line.

Maybe not, but it also doesn't mean that someone actually supports the Nazi party or approves of what the Nazis did, or even bears ill-will to members of any particular racial or religious group.

Don’t think I said any of that. However, the use of the swastika may be a laugh riot to some, to others it’s a symbol of hatred
and murder and isn’t funny at all. But people like Harry don’t care about those people. As long as his Eton friends got a kick out of it, he’s all good.
