Had myself a (mild) heart attack on Thursday.

Got to the hospital in time, unbelievably rapid response - I was having stents installed just over an hour after walking into the hospital. So surreal - one artery had two big blockages.

Anyway, home in less than 72 hours, damage to the heart should repair in 4-6 months, and the prognosis is really good.

So fucking lucky.

Gentlemen - if you have heartburn that radiates towards your jaw, do not ignore it.

Glad to hear the positive news from this. Can't have swampers passing away...we don't have enough fantasy leagues to name after them and the ones we do sometimes forget to be organized (see 2021 Bensell Triple Crown Challenge).

Damn, Pruitt! That's scary. Good luck with everything! I'm glad you and whomever you were with jumped on it right away. Getting to hospital quick is important. Sounds like everything went well. I hope Canadian socialized medicine means you won't have any residual financial hit.

How many stents? I have three in me from my incident.

But if all my FoxNews viewing taught me nothing else, I know that it takes 3 months to be seen for an emergency situation in a Canadian hospital. I'm so confused...

I was talking to my GP yesterday, marvelling at the rapid response and comprehensive care that I received and he said that for all the problems we have with our medical system, when there's an emergency, it's as good as any in the world.

When I got to the emergency room at the hospital nearby, there was a sign warning that visitors would have to wait up to 4 hours to see a doctor. BUT, there was a staffer at the door asking what my issue was and from the moment I told her that I thought I was having a heart attack until the triage nurse had started the ekg machine, couldn't have been much more than five minutes.

And that included some really rough dry shaving of parts of my chest and sides. In my life, I have only seen one man who was hairier than myself. The triage nurse had a go at me with a (really cheap single bladed) razor, so did one of the ambulance women and a nurse at the hospital where the procedure was performed was literally speed walking next to the gurney, shearing me with clippers as I was being taken to the O.R.

I can now see skin that I haven't seen since my early teenage years. And since they weren't sure if they could get the stent in through the wrist, I was given a full Brazilian from the knees up.

Not a word of a lie - the only pain I felt after the surgery was when nurses and techs had to pull ECG contacts and tape off of me.

But damn I'm grateful right now.
