World Cup of Anthems: Week 21

Welcome to Week 21. From Week 20, Israel and Kazakhstan advance to Round 4.

Week 21, Round 3, Group 3 (Finland/Estonia, Greenland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Costa Rica, South Africa, Turkey, Switzerland, Nepal)

Vote for as many as you want. Anthems are below, in most cases, I have tried to find a solo singer version. Voting is from Monday to Monday.

Finland and Estonia's shared anthem sucks double. Switzerland is similarly weak.

Greenland is a bit soft musically, nice message though, and Costa Rica is okay, but not vote worthy.

Bosnia gets a "meh". This would have been a better choice for the country...



Nepal gets a half-hearted vote, not bad. South Africa is good, but any anthem sung by a packed stadium of rugby fans is going to sound so much better. Turkey is the week's winner. A classic anthem - bouncy, affirming with just a hint of "Fuck You!" to the rest of the world.

I'll have to go back and find the threads that I missed, even if it's too late to vote. Hopefully the rest of yinz voted for the best anthems, and there weren't any more major oversights like St. Kitts and Nevis.

Nepal is my favorite of this group. Not as strong as its regionmate Bhutan, but still 'of its place.'

I'm probably overrating Finland because of this particular choral arrangement and my love of its hockey program. Whatever. If the ballot was split, I would vote for Finland but not Estonia.

I voted for Costa Rica because it sounded like an anthem should sound like, even if I didn't particularly love it.
