2021 NBA Offseason/Draft

Little move-up for the Grizz in the draft and that Lakers pick is reportedly top-ten protected.

Strong rumoring is memphis isn’t done trying to move up. If they do hold the Lakers pick, they gives them three 1s next year .

What do they want Bledsoe for, to laugh at him?

They don't. They had the cap to take his contract in exchange for moving up to 10 and 40 from 17 and 51. Word is he won't ever hit Memphis - either will be on the move again as part of another deal or bought out.

Expecting an Eric Gordon trade today or tomorrow sometime. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets moved up using him and one of their picks in the 20s. Don't think they'll try to move to 1 and I'm happy with Green or Mobley at 2.

Man, two for $37.5 is a lot for a guard who cannot shoot well. I know the point guard market is weak this offseason, but it is hard to see someone taking on Bledsoe's contract. I have never seen anyone draw a statistical connection between age and steals, but the way his steal numbers have eroded the last two years (ages 30-31) makes it seem like the athleticism is eroding pretty quickly.

Bengal, are the Grizz going to decline Winslow's option?

Pelton said the same at ESPN in his trade analysis and also noted Bledsoe has only $3.9 million guaranteed next year, so the buyout is much more viable.

Right. Either he gets dealt sometime over the next month as part of a necessary contract piece if Grizzlies make a move to trade for something interesting or he gets bought out.

It just seems so dumb.

At the same time, it's really impressive for Westbrook's "untradeable" contract keeps getting traded.

Random thoughtquestion - who is the 4th best player Russell Westbrook will have ever played with? 5 and 6 are probably Beal and George, who are no slouches but the top 4 are first-level HOFers.

And the Suns just gave Paul a 4 year $120 million contract. I guess they looked past his poor performance in the finals and wanted to get a long term deal for a point guard entering his late 30's prime.

I am having a hard time believing Jimmy Butler's five-year max extension with the Heat is going to age well.

Lebron doesn't seem to age and Paul had a good playoff run before the finals, so now teams are more willing to throw money at older players? If I were the Suns I'd prefer spending that money on Lonzo Ball. The younger guys are taking over the league sooner rather than later I think.

Isn't the Phoenix organization known for hiring outstanding strength and conditioning folks? I know they is probably a dumb counter argument, but I don't know if Chris Paul is suited to be anywhere better.

The guy who was revered by players like Grant Hill and Shaq (Aaron Nelson) was hired away by the Pelicans after they hired David Griffin as a GM. Griffin and Nelson started at the same time with the Suns.

Chris Paul did also switch to a plant-based diet before this season. No idea how much that may have helped, if at all, but he did play in 70 of 72 regular season games this year.

Similar to the Nets' acquisition of Harden, the Lakers' real reason for acquiring Westbrook is to get a third star (term used a little more loosely in his case, I suppose) to increase the likelihood of having one or two available to play. Very likely that Westbrook is on the floor for every second Lebron is off it when they are both healthy, save for the ends of blowouts.

It's a tired joke at this point, but because it's from George Karl, it's hilarious.

Opening just in time for Paul George and Kawhi Leonard to either be playing elsewhere or in a contact dispute going forward!

Former NBA players charged in $4M health care fraud scheme
Eighteen former NBA players were charged Thursday with pocketing about $2.5 million illegally by defrauding the league's health and welfare benefit plan in a scam that authorities said involved claiming fictitious medical and dental expenses.
