An affair with a staffer (regardless of gender) is never a good look.

That said...I hope her scumbag ex-husband and the various Right-Wing websites that have been publishing the pictures get busted for revenge porn.
This. Not because she had an affair, but it was with a subordinate.
For that matter a young subordinate who was fresh out of college and would be put in a difficult spot if she wanted to reject Hill’s advances or break off the affair.

Once again, one party tries to play by the rules and the other party doesn't, but calls out the other when they even come close to breaking those rules. Oh, and the first party never gets any benefit from their efforts to play by the rules while the second party never gets any meaningful blowback from not playing by the rules.

I don’t think the solution to GOP hypocrisy is for Dems to stop abiding by ethical standards. This Tweet summarizes well why what Hill did was wrong:

Isaac Yankem would be the only DDS I care about, but Glen Jacobs is the mayor of Knox Country, Tennessee and he's a Republican. So, oh well.

Also, this is a pretty big deal. (Click post for the link for the thread.)

Yup. I don’t know where they would be found.

But the other results certainly doesn’t inspire hope for McGrath next year.

Again, this is not a bad result for trump unless everyone that hates Bevin also hates trump, which is unlikely. Bevin was historically disliked. All the other Republicans won pretty easily so I don’t think Kentucky is becoming a battleground state all of a sudden.

Well I’m pretty sure they will brag on all the dominating wins and end up throwing Bevin under the bus in fact he kind of did it at the rally in what now seems like a hedge but only if you think there is that much thought. I’ll have to find the quote but the game is about to start so I probably won’t.

KC voted to undo Martin Luther King Blvd last night. Which was the right decision!

The city council decided itself in January to rename The Paseo -- a historic street name that cuts north/south through a predominantly black area of the city -- to MLK. The process was bad, and there were lots of questions about it. Anyway, there were enough questions to put it back to a vote and 70% of the voters yesterday said it should go back to The Paseo.

surface-level optics aside (Kansas City voted to get rid of an MLK street!) there's now a chance for a transparent process to figure out what the best street is to be renamed. I want to see it be a numbered street that cuts east and west through diverse sections of the city. That's what they should have done in the first place other than take one of the most famous streets in the city and rename it.

VA goes fully blue.

3 typically red to purple counties outside of Philly go blue on their councils, one of the first time ever, another the first time since the Civil War.

In both of those races, and what is being reported out of KY, the suburbs are turning HARD against Trump.

There's no scenario where Trump loses white suburbia that sees him re-elected. We're talking a blowout if these early numbers are accurate.

Yeah, this is a good point. As it stands right now, it looks like the 2018 midterm election was a pretty good bellwether for what we'll see in 2020 (and confirms what we saw last night).

If all that is true, it means Georgia and to a lesser extent Texas might actually be in play. Also means NC is probably gonna be a barnburner. All that said, it's gonna come down to Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania again, but Trump is very unpopular in the two latter states and unpopular-ish in WI.

Too early to be overconfident, but it's hard to imagine what Trump could do to coalesce support around him since something like 46 percent of all registered voters have said there's no way they're voting for him in 2020, period. (Similar polling was at 36 percent for Obama 2012 and Bush 2004 IIRC.)

So when Bevin loses his recount (which I assume he will)...how long until the Kentucky Legislature quick marches bills to severely restrict the incoming Governor's powers? That's what the GOP did after losing in North Carolina and Wisconsin.

I don't think the Secretary of State will let that happen, to be honest. The recanvas is actually next thursday, not today, but unless there actually shows up some kind of real discrepancies she will certify the results.

Definitely the potential for some shenanigans in Kentucky, though it's hard to imagine a scenario where the GOP gets away with overturning a valid election.

Still, get ready for more of this because it's a warmup for what they're going to try if Trump loses in 2020.
