Fascinating background. Only child of same-sex couple. Has a 2 year old with her long-time partner Markus Räikkönen who from what I can tell had a very short career as a professional soccer player (Ilves Tampere and Tampereen Pallo-Veikot).

What an interesting logo for Tampereen

That fine Christian gentleman from Kentucky, did some pardons on the way out of the State House.

Bevin pardons include convicted killer whose brother hosted campaign fundraiser for him
The family of a man pardoned by Gov. Matt Bevin for a homicide and other crimes in a fatal 2014 Knox County home invasion raised $21,500 at a political fundraiser last year to retire debt from Bevin’s 2015 gubernatorial campaign.

The brother and sister-in-law of offender Patrick Brian Baker also gave $4,000 to Bevin’s campaign on the day of the fundraiser, according to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance database.

A photo of Bevin attending the July 26, 2018, fundraiser at the home of Eric and Kathryn Baker in Corbin was published six days later in a local paper, the News Journal.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Jackie Steele, who prosecuted Patrick Baker and other defendants for the 2014 death of Donald Mills, told The Courier Journal on Wednesday it would be an “understatement to say I am aggrieved” by Bevin’s pardon.

Steele identified Patrick Baker as the brother of Eric Baker, who hosted the Bevin fundraiser at his Corbin home.

The Friday order was one of 428 pardons and commutations Bevin issued since his narrow loss in November to Democrat Andy Beshear, who was sworn into office Tuesday.

The beneficiaries include one offender convicted of raping a child, another who hired a hit man to kill his business partner and a third who killed his parents.

Governor Cuomo designed an interesting poster to herald the triumphs of his time in office.

I get that it's a throwback to old-time political posters, but not everyone is a fan...

This is my cousin's former commander. He was her crew chief. I think literally his name was on the plane she flew. And he always respected her and said she was great.

He's now completely confused and ashamed to know this person now. Retired full bird colonels shouldn't act like this.

Lots of hot takes over this article about Chapo Trap House.

I'm just kind of like 'whatever' about it. I listen to CTH because those folks have the right amount of anger when discussing politics for me. Seems like others are of a different mind about it.

But I did learn that this person's parents are billionaires from the angry replies to it.

Maybe I'm blinded, but I'm missing the racist, sexist, and ableist stuff. They go in on everyone and call out shit.

Of course their tone is off putting, that's kinda the schtick.

You can be angry about politics and call people out without leaning on insults of those kinds.

I'm not saying they don't do, I'm just saying I must be missing them doing it. I'm gonna need specific instances of them being racist. Maybe I just don't realize it's a racist statement.

FYI, there are calls for Andy to run against Mitch this fall. He can't do that for obvious reasons, but he'd win a landslide.

McGrath has an opening and she needs to be hammering mitch right now.

Governor Ron DeSantis being such a shitheel right now reminded me that the guy he beat checked himself into rehab because he was 'inebriated' in a hotel room with a dude who had overdosed on something.

Despite initial reporting, I haven't seen anything since. It's odd to say the least.

I’ve seen stuff online that the guy Gillum was with who OD’d on meth advertised himself as a male prostitute online. Either way it’s a strange story and it’s good that Gillum is seeking help.

Just found out recently a former friend and co-worker of mine and Sabo's (Victor C) went to school for 13 years (K-12) in CT with Sen. Chris Murphy. Says he even shows up for the reunions and whatnot and is a really nice guy. 30 or 40 years ago, Murphy would probably be a likely future presidential candidate for the Dems (and still might be one day, who knows).

Millions of Iraqis would disagree with that statement!

(I tend to view political figures primarily through a utilitarian lens — i.e., do your actions result in overall increases human well-being/suffering and if so by what amount? And by that metric, GWB is clearly worse than Trump. I’d also argue that preemptive war is a far worse and more consequential norm violation than Trump’s bullshit. Nixon’s still gotta be worse than Trump too, IMO.)
