The person running against Newark mayor, Corey Booker for Senate would like to inform you that he is a man.
“It’s kind of weird. As a guy, I personally like being a guy,” Lonegan said. “I don’t know if you saw the stories last year. They’ve been out for quite a bit about how he likes to go out at three o’clock in the morning for a manicure and a pedicure.”

Lonegan then brought up nail care again.

“I don’t like going out in the middle of the night, or any time of the day, for a manicure and pedicure,” Lonegan said. “It was described as his peculiar fetish . . .I have a more peculiar fetish. I like a good Scotch and a cigar. That’s my fetish but we’ll just compare the two.”

Yeah...

Another key point he made that was left out of the article you linked to this:
"Maybe that helps to get him the gay vote by acting ambiguous," Lonegan told Steve Malzberg.

He forgot to clarify that "a good Scotch and a cigar" is a euphemism for blowing a guy in a kilt.

So this is happening apparently.

Nice to see that instead of worrying about a total shutdown we're arguing about a passed law with Supreme Court backing. You may hate Obamacare, but it's law, Constitutionally legal, and here to stay until it fails.

But yea. Stand around and speak all night until you're forced to move.

It's all a ploy for personal gain. He is trying to make a bigger name for himself among the base in order to make a Presidential run. Though I heard that he recited Green Eggs and Ham in its entirety, so it wasn't all bad.

If I had the balls, I'd put on my uniform and take a pic of myself holding up a sheet of paper covering my face that read something like "I didn't join the U.S. military to be collateral damage in a dick waving contest amongst a bunch of egotistical fuckwads in Congress."

The fact that Cory Booker once talked to a stripper is a complete non-story. I did find this quote humorous:
Booker senior adviser Kevin Griffis wrote:Really, the most shocking part of this story was learning there is a vegan strip club in Portland.
Someone has never been to Portland! Or even just watched Portlandia.

Heh. Casa Diablo. They only give change in $2 bills so the dancers (& house) basically get double than the other clubs. And they mark them red for some reason, so whenever you're about town and you see someone with one of said bills, you know where they've been.

Trust me. I want to do it so bad. But if I did it and I get found out, I'm dunzo in the military. (At least I think so anyway.)

Plus, I'm at the NCO Academy right now and today we went over our roles with being involved in New Media and all that. I simply can't risk it.

So, Congress can just arbitrarily decide to give themselves a paid vacation. That is fucking great. If the Tea Party really wanted to make a statement about the ACA, how about not taking a fucking paycheck when you decide you're going to close shop?

They don't give a shit because they know the American people are too fucking lazy and stupid to ever do anything about it. Congress has had a < 15% approval rating for how long, yet every two years we keep sending pretty much the same fuckers back to Congress. This country is getting what it deserves.

It's a point that I keep bringing up - but having an entrenched two party system is ridiculous. Everything becomes black and white and compromise is viewed as betrayal.

And of course, it is far too late to do anything about it. Unless - and this is something that should fervently be desired - the Tea Party folks split off from the Republican party, and take their Ayn Rand fantasies and run with them. Then the Republicans can return to being the party of business as opposed to being the party of business and gun lovers and conspiracy theorists.

Let the Tea Party folks dream of a Mount Rushmore with Ron Paul, Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz and some random mouth breather. Let the Republican party return to the days when it could properly represent the interests of intelligent people.

In the meantime, let the intelligent among us shake our heads in amazement.

The GOP brought this on themselves. They are the ones responsible for the last redistricting. Get rid of the Gerrymandering and those idiots aren't much more than then the loudmouth kids no one pays attention too.

I think Andrew Sullivan got it right.

The Republicans can't or won't accept the Affordable Care Act (apparently a much more popular law than the ObamaCare law), because they don't accept Obama as legitimate:

http://dish.andrewsullivan.com/2013/10/ ... ion-party/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In 2012, the Democrats beat the Republicans by about 1 million votes in House elections, 10 million votes in Senate elections, and 5 million votes in the Presidential election. Yet the Republicans are acting as if it is some kind of betrayal by Obama and the Democrats if they don't adopt Romney's platform as a condition of keeping the government open and paying its debts.

Wide brush. Whereas in reality, the number of Republicans that "don't accept Obama as legitimate" is a small fringe element comparable to the number of liberals that didn't accept Dubbya as legitimate because he "blah blah blah stole the election".

There are two sides fucking up here. This shutdown, or partial shutdown, is the fault of both parties. The liberals pushing Obamacare or ACA were elected to do so. The conservatives opposing it were elected to oppose it. The corporate lobbyists who will profit from the legislation push their puppets to pass it; the corporate lobbyists who will not profit, or who will lose money, from the legislation push their puppets to defeat it. Unfortunately, every once in a while those mobs have strengths in similar numbers. It becomes a bigger and louder screech battle because health care, pharms and insurance are gigantic industries.

As usual, this has nothing whatsoever to do with gun-wielding born-agains xenophobically conditioned to hating socialist Nigerian muslims.

Obviously, not every member of the Republican Party thinks Obama is illegitimate. But the current shutdown is being driven by the 30-50 hard core Republicans in the House who represent the Southern white districts. Those people don't accept Obama.

Jon Stewart nailed it when he called out the Toby Turtle look a like Mitch McConnell for calling the ACA unconstitutional when it was passed by Congress, signed by the President and ruled Constitutional by the Supreme Court. The Republicans are crying that the Dems won't negotiate, but what is there to negotiate? The law was passed, signed and ruled on by the Supreme Court. If Congress doesn't like it, they can amend it. But they don't have the votes. Follow the fucking process laid out in the Constitution you so proudly proclaim to worship. I love how the people who boast loudest about their love of the Constitution are the ones who violate it the most. I am also including self-proclaimed Constitutional scholar Obama, who thinks it is OK to hold prisoners without habeas corpus and illegally spy on American citizens and kill American citizens with drone attacks.

Boehner and the Rep. refuse to sign a CR and act like petulant teenagers because they don't like a law already passed.

President and Dems refuse to sign a CR and act like petulant teenagers who won't negotiate at all yet portray themselves as the adults in the room.

The CR is only necessary because we've had 10+ years of Presidents and their respective Congri who have been unable to give the country a proper budget so they lazily pass these CRs instead of doing the hard work.

All this brought to us Millionaire anchors who give us their biggest puppy dog eyes trying to convince us they have the foggiest notion what it's like to live paycheck-to-paycheck in this economy.

Fuck 'em all.

Just a fucking farcical joke. They'll indulge in this bs, then raise the debt ceiling again, and just like in prior shutdowns and furloughs, pay most of the workers retroactively. For not working. Since it ain't their money.

With all the real problems facing this country, economic and otherwise, I could not possibly care less about this crap.

Holy fuck...
At the National Institutes of Health, nearly three-quarters of the staff was furloughed. One result: director Francis Collins said about 200 patients who otherwise would be admitted to the NIH Clinical Center into clinical trials each week will be turned away. This includes about 30 children, most of them cancer patients, he said.

Congress hates cancer kids! When you think about it, how many more patients will go untreated by preventing Obamacare?
