The person running against Newark mayor, Corey Booker for Senate would like to inform you that he is a man.

“It’s kind of weird. As a guy, I personally like being a guy,” Lonegan said. “I don’t know if you saw the stories last year. They’ve been out for quite a bit about how he likes to go out at three o’clock in the morning for a manicure and a pedicure.”

Lonegan then brought up nail care again.

“I don’t like going out in the middle of the night, or any time of the day, for a manicure and pedicure,” Lonegan said. “It was described as his peculiar fetish . . .I have a more peculiar fetish. I like a good Scotch and a cigar. That’s my fetish but we’ll just compare the two.”

Another key point he made that was left out of the article you linked to this:

He forgot to clarify that "a good Scotch and a cigar" is a euphemism for blowing a guy in a kilt.

Nice to see that instead of worrying about a total shutdown we're arguing about a passed law with Supreme Court backing. You may hate Obamacare, but it's law, Constitutionally legal, and here to stay until it fails.

It's all a ploy for personal gain. He is trying to make a bigger name for himself among the base in order to make a Presidential run. Though I heard that he recited Green Eggs and Ham in its entirety, so it wasn't all bad.

So, Congress can just arbitrarily decide to give themselves a paid vacation. That is fucking great. If the Tea Party really wanted to make a statement about the ACA, how about not taking a fucking paycheck when you decide you're going to close shop?

They don't give a shit because they know the American people are too fucking lazy and stupid to ever do anything about it. Congress has had a < 15% approval rating for how long, yet every two years we keep sending pretty much the same fuckers back to Congress. This country is getting what it deserves.

It's a point that I keep bringing up - but having an entrenched two party system is ridiculous. Everything becomes black and white and compromise is viewed as betrayal.

And of course, it is far too late to do anything about it. Unless - and this is something that should fervently be desired - the Tea Party folks split off from the Republican party, and take their Ayn Rand fantasies and run with them. Then the Republicans can return to being the party of business as opposed to being the party of business and gun lovers and conspiracy theorists.

In 2012, the Democrats beat the Republicans by about 1 million votes in House elections, 10 million votes in Senate elections, and 5 million votes in the Presidential election. Yet the Republicans are acting as if it is some kind of betrayal by Obama and the Democrats if they don't adopt Romney's platform as a condition of keeping the government open and paying its debts.

There are two sides fucking up here. This shutdown, or partial shutdown, is the fault of both parties. The liberals pushing Obamacare or ACA were elected to do so. The corporate lobbyists who will profit from the legislation push their puppets to pass it; the corporate lobbyists who will not profit, or who will lose money, from the legislation push their puppets to defeat it. Unfortunately, every once in a while those mobs have strengths in similar numbers. It becomes a bigger and louder screech battle because health care, pharms and insurance are gigantic industries.

Obviously, not every member of the Republican Party thinks Obama is illegitimate. But the current shutdown is being driven by the 30-50 hard core Republicans in the House who represent the Southern white districts. Those people don't accept Obama.

Jon Stewart nailed it when he called out the Toby Turtle look a like Mitch McConnell for calling the ACA unconstitutional when it was passed by Congress, signed by the President and ruled Constitutional by the Supreme Court. The Republicans are crying that the Dems won't negotiate, but what is there to negotiate? The law was passed, signed and ruled on by the Supreme Court. If Congress doesn't like it, they can amend it. But they don't have the votes. Follow the fucking process laid out in the Constitution you so proudly proclaim to worship. I love how the people who boast loudest about their love of the Constitution are the ones who violate it the most. I am also including self-proclaimed Constitutional scholar Obama, who thinks it is OK to hold prisoners without habeas corpus and illegally spy on American citizens and kill American citizens with drone attacks.

The CR is only necessary because we've had 10+ years of Presidents and their respective Congri who have been unable to give the country a proper budget so they lazily pass these CRs instead of doing the hard work.
