That's pretty cool. I'm sure a lot of the accuracy is debatable, but it gives a nice, general overview of time and relative power. I've always had a hard time keeping relative timelines of ancient civilizations straight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it totally ignores pre-colonial American empires, right? Africa too.

Interesting.

It looks like it cuts off around 1920. I'd like to see it carry forward to the present.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Yeah I wish I could read the fine print to corollate sudden spikes/declines with specific events (i.e., Genghis Khan's death, earthquake in Lisbon, etc.). Also not sure if the general democratization of the 20th century was due to the industrial revolution or if they just didn't have a more macro view of the trends at the time of the chart being published.

Or Atlanta. Not quite sure why that would be. Kind of a noticeable hole in Georgia. Never mind... by congressional district. That would be the gerrymandered black side of Atlanta.

Trying to understand why people from 2/3 of the states that border Canada traveling to Canada makes it an "unusually popular" destination.

Probably because it's the same algorithm that all these maps use where it's whatever stands out in relation to the other states

I tried to edit my post and made a new one. Fuck me. In any event, most of these are not that surprising especially when you consider most of these are areas settled by immigrants (i.e. Somalis in Minnesota and Bosnias in Missouri, Filipinos in Nevada, etc.)

Yeah, half of my kids' school goes back to visit relatives in India every summer. Actually, they go like 3 times a year - to the point where the school district had to create a policy to say they can't guarantee a spot for anyone who comes back after 10 consecutive days of non-sick absences.
