You're good to go. Username is now devilfluff; your password will be the same. Your settings should be the same as well.
Cheers.

Well, it's a sporadic thing that had happened a couple times in the last few days. This trip through, for example, ran perfectly even though I had the quirks this morning.

Basically, just wanted to mention it to see if anyone else had a similar issue.

I'm miffed on that one. I just went through every setting on the Admin configuration and I simply can't see anything that would in any way affect that. Even the "maximum duration" of inactivity before the forum logs a user out is set to its max.

All I can think is that your local settings are causing that. And I say that because the same thing happened to me for ages on my Win XP box. And it was likely the way I had my browser set up (first Firefox, later Chrome). And being a security nut, I had everything heightened; using CCleaner to cleanse the system several times every day, never keeping anything cached, having no internet history, no cookies, every time I hit a site the site believed I was there for the first time.

I'll keep picking at it but I'm not seeing it is a board issue, mate.

In response to the discussion here.

Scottie, I think there is just some confusion because the youtube tag is a little different than the video tag from VBbulletin. Generally any youtube dot com link worked in the latter, as long as the URL started with http and not https.

It looks like https still does not work here, and (as you demonstrated) I have found myself having to toy with the URL when posting videos here. For instance, the link for that NHL 94 video I posted originally looked like this:
""

If you remove the "s" and then apply the youtube tags to the remainder you get this:

That would have worked with video tags in VBulletin.

I had to take out the "feature=player_embedded&" portion to get it to embed here:

Thank you very much, rass.

Getting video to embed was a challenge given that phpBB3 doesn't really want to support that as a feature. So what I coded was effectively a hack.

Between your excellent explanation, and the several times I've posted the "how to", there should be more than enough info for the lads to embed videos now. It just takes a bit of getting used to.

On a similar note . . . how does the larger size YouTubia dimensions work for everyone?

My workaround is just to cheat. Just hit quote on a previous post with an embedded youtube video and swap your url for it's url (and obviously delete the quote function). That way, you can easily check that your link is in the same format as the link that worked. The downside is that you don't actually learn how to do it, but at least it posts correctly.

Scottie, the new size looks great.

No worries at all and I appreciate your thoroughness in looking at this. Basically, I was just adhering to your "let me know if you have any issues" request and didn't know if it was just me or not. It is a very minor issue for me and certainly won't deter me from visiting unless it happens more frequently.

Thank you. I'll revisit it. It is possible that there is something adjustable on the settings end.

Is that happening to you on any other site? Or just this one?

Scottie, I hope I'm not insulting you here - but did you search for plugins or similar that already solved the embedded video thing? Back in the day, phpbb had a ton of gadgets like that that people had shared.

Nah. I just wrote it. Seemed like the easiest thing to do. Create the object, give it dimensions, name values, references to existing code and YouTube features (like "allow full screen" and such). And then make it forum specific and embedable.

I'm really not big on third-party plug-ins. Not at all.

Only this site, but this is also the only message board I currently check out where I am registered. Again, it hasn't happened since I posted in this thread, so maybe it was just oneofthosethings.

The thing where your response doesn't post automatically because someone posted just before you while you are in the "Post A Reply" screen is cool, but it completely makes me think I committed some sort of error.

And . . . The Swamp is now what it always should have been, functionwise. As I said from the start, rebuild and then hand it off. That then is now.

You may embed only 3 quotes within each other.

We had our first (I believe) spam account just deleted. Just an alert to the other mods that we're not immune to them, though there's certainly some hoops for them to jump through.

I think changing that requires administrator access, even if it can be changed. There's nothing in the moderator control panel that allows us to adjust those kinds of settings.
