Netflix Suggestions?

Since I got Netflix at the beginning of this year, I've now watched Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Lost, Friday Night Lights, House of Cards, The League, Arrested Development, Orange is the New Black, and Doctor Who.

Anyway, I'm being really non-committal on a new show and for some reason I'm averse to Mad Men. Can anyone sell me on anything? A drama or a darkish comedy, preferably.

I watched Freaks and Geeks in its entirety. Enjoyed it.

And here's a link sorted by IMDB rating.

Lots of Swampers liked Terriers during its short run. Peep show is fun but you have to be into British humor, er humour. Archer is awesome.

Im gonna queue up Lonsesome Dove. Read the book a month ago but have never seen the miniseries all the way through.

If you want dark comedy, I'd suggest It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Longmire also got some love from a critic I usually like. I'd have to dig that up to remember who it was though.

Saw it on TV. Love it though.

Why was Freaks and Geeks only one season? Too smart like A.D.?

Yeah, Freaks and Geeks is great. It was definitely too smart for network TV, but it was a hard show to categorize too. It was hour-long, but was more like a sitcom than a drama. Hard show to pigeonhole.

Only mentioning it because AB did, but I really liked "Terriers."

What about Weeds and Californication?

Also, give Hell on Wheels a go.

What's this Terriers all about?

Streaming is streaming. Physical discs is when you tell them what you want to watch and they send you the DVDs in the mail.

A buddy private detective drama/dark comedy set in the modern San Diego(?) area. Great acting and chemistry from the leads. A really solid season long story. I wasn't the only one on the Swamp who loved the show.

With apologies to Mad Men and Breaking Bad, I would probably have to say that the one season of Terriers is my favorite season of TV ever. It's just so good from start to finish. Rass summed it up accurately.

Terriers was awesome. It was one of my favorite seasons ever too, but that was before I binged on Breaking Bad. I may give it another shot.

I really like Longmire. I don't watch much non-SciFi or car-related TV, so that may or may not be useful to you.

I know. With Mrs. Brody's ass, right?

Mrs. Brody's tits were shown at one point, and so were one of some Mideast prince's harem girls that Carrie had working for her. Then, nothing.

I finally got around to this. Watched the movie, then started from season one. I love this shit. Two questions:

1) Does Julian ever spill his drink?
2) I have a shirt that is very much like one of Ricky's. What does this say abut me?

I'm on this now. Episode 9 I think. I thought at first that the whole season was going to be about Ted from Breaking Bad. Weird how that lasted like 5 episodes and then every other crime part gets resolved in one. Still enjoying it though.

I also watched S1 of American Horror Story. Ended a little weird but it's worth watching. S2 was just released so I'll watch that after Terriers.

1. No the drink is never spilled by Julian. Watch Closer to the Heart...fantastic episode and not just because I'm a Rush fan.
2. Well just says your no rocket appliance, know what I'm sayin'?

Uh, Randy doesn't wear shirts, Mr. Lifeson. That's just the way it is.
Bubbles is the best. The episode before this, he had a mini shopping cart for one of his kitties. Killed me.

And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones who start
To mold a new reality
Closer to the heart

I have no idea why TPB hasn't been broadcast anywhere in the US except the DirectTV channel. Most people I've introduced it to have loved it.

In the UK we get a different version of Netflix and it does not have 'Terriers' for some reason... £5.99 a month is amazing value though

One more question, Rush.

Are bottles in Nova Scotia particularly thin? Or is auto glass up there particularly tough?

Bottle kids throw so hard the bottles actually break up due to the wind resistance.

UK. Have to watch the "sequel" as well, but the name eludes me at the moment.

If you mean series two, then those 6 episodes are great.

If you mean 'Ashes to ashes' ? I didn't like it as much because there is a female lead and the banter between to Sam and Gene was better viewing.

Okay, so not available on Netflix, but rather Amazon Prime. Alphas. The comedy with John Goodman about 4 Republican congressman roommates. It is written by Gary Trudeau. 7 Episodes so far I am enjoying it. Haley Joel Osment, Wanda Sykes, Bill Murray all make appearances.

I'm trying to justify Amazon Prime and dropping Hulu and Netflix. Now that I have Directv, I can record and/or on demand most of the shows I like to watch, so Hulu loses its luster.

We got it on a discount last year when we bought a Kindle. Definitely worth the full price whenever the renewal comes up.

I dropped Netflix because about 90% of its content is also on Prime. And I'm not giving up free two-day shipping for anyone.
