Not The Veil? That's their big Trillium-level name.
Hardywood seems to be a bigger name around here as well. I haven't been to Veil or Hardywood. It's hard to tell from their site whether Veil has outdoor seating, and I'm not going to drink indoors right now.
Looks like Veil ships to a few states. No NJ or FL though.
Same friend and a few others are obsessed with The Veil. Another friend dragged me to Other Half in Brooklyn when they did a collaboration with The Veil. I've heard The Answer is known for their fruited sours. I also like some of their beer names, like Jenny Cream Ale and You Put Your Wheat in There.
Over the past few days, I've had the following from the Answer:
Kurisupiboi (pronounced Crispy Boy) - their Japanese style toasted rice lager. It's excellent. CCB does a similar one they call ikebana. It's a refreshing lager with a little more flavor (the toasted rice) than your usual lager
Haupiri - a New Zealand style pilsner (never heard of such a thing) which was also really good
Missing Floppies - a passionfruit raspberry sour (again, as mentioned before about the sweetness, it's not overwhelmingly sweet or sour, but just enough of each)
Hoptone wai-iti and Hoptone NZH-107, two variations of their Hoptone American IPA. Both really good The wai-iti is listed as an India Pale Lager, not IPA

The following Jooses
Quad Mother of...(Strawberry Guava Puffsicle)(Mango Swirlsicle: Pink Guava)(Spliff Stith: Mango Blueberry Marshmallow), that's three different flavors. All good.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Blanton's German Chocolate Cake Stout - looks like a mess of flavors that could be out of balance, but even at 12% ABV, the flavors and the booziness are perfect.
Salted Caramel Colonel Angus Imperial Stout - similar to the above in that it could easily be too much of any of those things, but it's just perfectly balanced.

There's a lady at my son's school that's always rocking a Kane shirt, sadly not a time to blindly sidle up and talk beers.

When I was at the Answer last they had a number of stouts that they ran through a flavour filter like DFH was doing with hops a while back. So you could get your stout hit with vanilla Vietnamese coffee or the like.

I got on a vodka fresca kick one summer and would just feel horrible the next day even if I didn't drink that much. Well, you can't eat grapefruit with my med, and I didn't even think about fresca being a grapefruit soda. There must be enough natural flavors in there to affect it. I stopped fresca and the problems stopped.

Yeah, most statins tell you right on the directions that you shouldn't eat grapefruit while on the medication. And, fresca has grapefruit in it.

Epic. We didn't go there last year so we wanted to try it this year and, welp.

Bierstadt and Our Mutual Friend were probably the top two in RiNo. Also have been to Ratio, Mockery, 14er, Great Divide, 10 Barrel, and probably a couple others I'm forgetting and went to last year + all the places we went in Co Springs. Goat Patch was probably our favorite there.

I've only been to Epic once, but I do sort of remember something similar in regards to service.

I'm a huge Ratio and Odell guy for RiNo breweries, I love being able to have a drunken afternoon and having multiple places a couple minutes walk away. Met a now good friend touring them last year as we kept seeing each other throughout the afternoon.

Cerebus and WeldWerks CoS are the places of note in CoS, though I haven't hit many of the smaller places. Goat Patch is good.

Leaving the Veil, heading to the Answer. Had two flights here. The best description I can give is that beers at The Veil have a sharpness to them while beers at The Answer have a smoothness to them. Both really good, but I prefer Answer.

My local liquor store has airline bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue for $20, and I can't decide if I should get one just to try it. I'm not a big fan of scotch, but folks I know who've had Blue say it's awesome, so I might give it a shot.

Aren’t airline bottles like one shot?

Why not? It’s tasty, but not worth the $125+ for a full bottle. But I think it’s worth the $20 for a dram.

It's like $200 a bottle, and yes, try it. It's definitely worth it, especially at that limited amount of $$.

I know the math doesn’t make sense, but if you want to try it, spend the $20 and if you like it, great. If you don’t think it was worth it, you’re only out $20.

Last time I was in Vegas, Oiler and I went to a casino off strip on the south side of town. (M, maybe?) and there was some deal where they gave you a good and drink voucher after you'd played for an hour at a table. Pretty sure it was like $25. Used it to get a glass of Johnnie Blue.

I'm doing the 'Sober October'...not for any sobriety reasons, but for health reasons.

I've been dealing with a lingering cough/congestion for a few months now. I have coughing spells that come and go, but its really bad when I lay down to go to bed. And I'll wake up in the middle of the night coughing, and have to get up and 'hock a loogie' and get a drink of water.

I just assumed it was allergies, but I went and saw my doctor, who prescribed some nose spray, and sent me to an ENT.

The ENT was fairly dismissive, but said 'it might be reflux'...what he called nighttime GERD. And one of the things on the handout he gave me as he shuffled me out the door was to stop drinking. So no wine with dinner, and no beers as I'm making dinner on the weekend.

So a few months later...I'm still having the issue, so I figured maybe he was right. So...not drinking. And so far? Can't really tell if its having an effect or not. I'm definitely not having the same coughing issues when I lay down, but still having coughing spells in the middle of the night.
