Random idea....curling gambling like Jai alai. Get a bunch of curlers, have some Fronton-like place and just games and bets all day. Feels like you could almost bet on every throw. Serve drinks, have surly and shady folks basically right on top of the ice just berating the players...chicken wire separation may work.

I'm still pissed the Tampa fronton is no more. It used to be on the far end of town, and now I live near where it stood. Jai Alai was the best, one of the last places you could still smoke indoors.

The US (Peterson) played for Bronze at the Women's World Championships. Canada (Einerson) really struggled, barely made the quarters and lost to Sweden.

That sucks. The Olympic Channel ran a short documentary about him during the winter, and it showed the great lengths he went through to get ready for an event. He attended just about every major curling event in the last couple of decades, which was remarkable since he was a blue-collar municipal employee. I can’t imagine the financial sacrifices they made to attend these events. RIP, Hans.

Crazy how competitive this week has been,

Bottcher, made the last 4 Brier finals and finally won last year, finished 3-5. Rachel Homan finished dead last 2-6.

Einarson, two time defending Scottie Champion is now in tiebreak hell. Three way tie for 3rd means two tiebreakers.

She is currently in tiebreaker1 against Scheidegger, winner gets McCarville (tiebreaker2), winner gets Jones (semi), winner gets Fleury (final) winner goes to Beijing.

For you curling fans!!!

Tonight's draw is Alberta vs Manitoba. The girl in the glasses that Brain likes is on Manitoba.

I'm taking my dad for the afternoon draw tomorrow. The building is 5 minutes away from me at Canada Olympic Park.

Here is the schedule, Mountain Timezone.

Oh ya, he's been in Canada almost 50 years. As he's getting older, he likes curling because it is slow and strategic and all the big events are on tv. Hockey, for example, it now too fast and chaotic.

It's also the best time zone for "where your client is located when you work in Eastern time". Get two extra hours to finish whatever they want done by "first thing in the morning", yet their day doesn't end so late as to screw up your schedule.

2 things I assume about Canadian curlers, including the women (tell me if I'm wrong):

1. Could drink me under the table
2. Would be MAGA as hell if situated in the United States

1. Yes
2. No. Curling has really progressed, into the 21st century, unlike a sport called hockey.
There are also quite a few openly gay curling including John Epping, former Ontario champion.
