That's exactly what it would be. "lets" is saying you are allowing something to happen. "let's" is proper there.

Also, Alex wouldn't notice anyway.

How much do you go into job descriptions on your LinkedIn Profiles? As much as your resume? Because I saw they have a new app for openings searches based on your profile.

One thing for sure, though, is if I see a lot of adjectives in a person's profile as opposed to stated facts, i.e. "hard-working", "organized", "dependable", I automatically assume they are full of shit. I try to follow the rule of filmmaking: don't say, show.

You definitely want to use key words for the type of jobs you'd want recruiters to call you for. IMO, that is the most important thing with LinkedIn. I agree with you, that adjectives are pointless. Anyone looking at your LI profile wants to know what your experience is, the rest they can figure out when they speak to you.

Shirley buying LInkedIn....Well Microsoft...but similar. $26.2 Billion. Microsoft is going to botch this. They have never really figured out the web services company thing. Just different DNA. Similar to the purchase of Expedia when I was at Microsoft, I expect it to get spun back off/sold in a few years.

Yeah, that was surprising. It sounds like we're going to try to let them continue to do their thing. LinkedIn had apparently kind of stagnated once they reached a near saturation point in the market and were trying to figure out how to continue to grow revenues.

BTW, MS didn't buy Expedia. They built it and later spun it off.

For LinkedIn, I think the biggest risk about being purchased by MS is the perception that it's no longer a neutral place for folks to store their employment history. Microsoft is an employer or competitor to a LOT of people who may feel less comfortable with putting their info in LinkedIn. We'll see.

That's right..I just had lots of folks on my team try to move the expedia team. Just does not seem to be in MSFT's DNA for services like this. Slate, Sidewalk.com, MSNBC, MSN, Music, MSN Direct, MSN QnA, MSN Spaces, Soapbox, MSN Groups, LinkExchange, and Encarta all have either been shutdown or spun-off.

I know everybody on the web needs a sugar daddy, but yeah, I see this as potentially a bad thing for people at Microsoft with coveted skills. Be pretty easy to filter people out of searches, no?

I guess this is as good a thread as any to say that, like wlu_lax6, I'm about to be a former Microsoft employee. My last day is next Friday.

I'm leaving the giant company world and going back to a startup, this time as VP of Engineering of a small security-focused company.

Yeah, I apparently get a year of that for free now. That was part of the form I filled out to let the company know I am leaving.
