I got 37 and that's the right one, I hit the wrong button twice and they evened out. Would have done slightly worse if the same first names weren't put consecutive where I knew which one was the ump.

I don't know why I did that New Jersey quiz since I did not know a single mascot. But I guessed a bunch of common and NFL mascots and some Northeastern Catholic school sauce and got to 79. This proves that actually living in New Jersey causes you to lose knowledge.

I imagine there isn’t a single quiz I could run away with by that margin other than “what is Mister D thinking right now” asked at 25 different times.

24/25 It would have helped if they wouldn't have used a very French spelling

ETA - I may have also used a variation on the protein as well

I knew it, but the protein can really be called three different things and the French added a superfluous vowel to the second word that I did not. Got tired of trying options.

(Didn’t know Brunswick stew and inexplicably blanked on the word jambalaya. Tried 20 with some nonsense including the words rice and andouille in it and got so flustered I tried paella knowing it was wrong. Got low country boil right but I definitely didn’t use that exact phrase.)

18/25. Of the ones I didn't get, 2 or 3 were ones where I knew the name but didn't recognize it, or recognize that it was a Southern thing.

Also, the lack of red beans and rice and fried catfish saddens me.

Honestly, it's kinda tough to even tell dumplings apart from biscuits when you do a Google image search. They pulled their photo from one that popped up though. From Tasty Kitchen. Awful photo.

This is a slightly better photo to use, IMO:

Y'all aren't wrong. My mom's chicken and dumplings look a lot more like Johnnie's photo than Sporcle's. That being said I'm pretty sure the Sporcle one looks a lot like what you get when ordering at Cracker Barrel.

17/25 which is way more than i'd have thought i'd get.

an absolute/accurate score as maybe 16 of those were obvious to me and the 8 i didn't get i've never heard of.

that country boil picture made me gag just a little bit.
