Not lunch (well, until I eat the leftovers today) but the wife and I hit a Thai place last night. The food is...fine. Nothing special. We've been going out of our way to try to eat at some non-chain restaurants on Wednesdays as both our kids have other things going, so it's a nice mid-week date hour. The problem with this Thai restaurant? Nothing but college-aged white kids to be seen. Very odd.

Then I really think they tried to scam me by putting an extra entree on the bill hoping I wouldn't notice. But I did. It was just sketchy all around.

That doesn't sound like a terribly good sub. Certainly not one to eat once a week.

I'm a creature of habit. My lunches aren't super variable. Some leftovers then whatever is close.

Did however venture out today to best burger joint in town. Anyone in the 859 and we will hit it up.

I almost always bring some leftovers for lunch, but one the days that I don't...I'm lucky that here in Amazon-land there are about 10 different food trucks within a 5 block radius. Some of them are outstanding...there's one that does duck fried rice with a fried egg over the top that is fantastic.

I'm typically only eat lunch out on Fridays. My current favorite is a taqueria 5 minutes from the office where I get three tacos, rice and beans and a margarita for $11. It's a walkup place and they not only don't put the tip line on the CC, they don't have a jar where you pick up your drinks.

Just used the office microwave's "Soup Reheat" feature. Apparently the microwave designers thought 900 degrees is the proper soup-eating temperature.

I don't believe in that microwave voodoo. How does the machine know it is hot or not? It is not probing your food.

It works great on plate leftovers, generally, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Had some leftover pork spare ribs and a hard boiled egg. Sometimes working from home isn't ideal.

Today is one of no more than two days a year I get to get a sub (hoagie, when in Rome) from my favorite deli/purveyor of fine Italian foods. Store made roast beef, lettuce, tomato, onions, pepper relish, vinegar and seasonings on the best sandwich roll I’ve had in Jersey.

For various reasons (the houses are a little cheaper, and there are no camps the week before school starts) we book our shore vacation the week before Labor Day and the shop is only open Th/F/Sa/Su this late in the season.

One of my favorites that my family doesn’t love as much as me is homemade pizzas. I will sometimes make dough but for ease got a boboli crust. Italian sausage left over from yesterday(another personal fave that no one likes) pepperoni, olives and mushrooms. Basic but so so good. I also out all my toppings under the cheese and then broil the last 45 seconds or so to get some char on the cheese.

So good. Paired with a Guinness from six pack bought to support sausages and peppers yesterday

I like to make pizza at home too. I like to make my own thin crust, not a fan of Boboli crusts. I clean out the fridge and throw a bunch of stuff on. My wife is not as big a fan, as I make a tremendous mess.

I love the Boboli crusts...restaurant I worked as a kid got me hooked on them. I like to make a buffalo chicken pizza using bleu cheese dressing as the sauce.

Karma if you're ever in RiNo at lunch time hit up Zeppelin station. Excellent high faluting food court.

Plus Ratio and Odell's tap room are just down the street.

Yeah I was down there twice last week but haven't made it to Zeppelin Station yet. Did got to a beer/pie pairing at Ratio, though. Ratio's Repeater and Darklands are two of my favorite beers.

Not having caesar salad apparently. This is pretty devastating to me personally. Hopefully this gets sorted out pretty soon, but I honestly, really do not want to give up romaine lettuce like forever.
