Delicious. I haven't had anything there that wasn't. They're opening one about two miles from our house and across the street from a World of Beer that just opened where you can bring your own food. So, long story short, is there a way to hide the stickied thread?

At just over 39 years old, I think I've finally decided I don't mind mayo. I just chose it over mustard on a sandwich I made for myself. I think I might need to force a midlife crisis, and soon.

We had friends in for out of town (state) last night, and took them to out favorite Spanish restaurant in Newark's Ironbound. Amazingly, my camarones enchilados were still fantastic reheated in the microwave for lunch this afternoon.

Completely forgot how sick I was that day. No wonder my wife was pissed at me for driving all the way to Newark in a blizzard to watch a soccer game on TV in my living room. Of all the places to watch a game, how the hell did we wind up in a 1960s basement in the Ironbound? Seriously, last time we let Cerrano find a place. I'm thinking Darby Road in Scotch Plains next time. Much more convenient for everyone, too. That article is another reminder of how I have failed to take advantage of the restaurants in the Ironbound.

i can't help it if you don't like places where the food is apparently excellent and they dole out free shots of hooch whenever either team scores a goal in a 7-4 match. maybe when we go back, you won't have the sniffles and will be able to handle a dusting on the road.

Middle Eastern (Lebanese?). Buddy of mine doctor-ed a guy that owns (literally) a block in Paterson, NJ. We finally met up for lunch today at a restaurant the guy owns. We ordered a quarter of the menu, and he piled on the Turkish coffee, pastries for the kids, and brought a bottle of Arak out from the back and poured a couple of rounds. Gave the kids some books. Then refused payment for the whole thing. Never eating again. Unless I sufficiently digest in the next couple of hours before dinner.

What was the name of the place? I used to pop into Paterson to pick up lunch when I was feeling brave, or had to go into the Passaic County Courthouse. Usually hit the Peruvian neighborhood, but occasionally ventured into the Middle Eastern zone. I forget the name of the street, but there is maybe 5 blocks of nothing but ME restaurants and shops. I usually went Turkish, though.

Grilled chicken wrap with hummus, red onion, kale from Whole Foods along with some honey mustard Kettle chips. The new one down the road from my office has its own brewery inside. As slow as this afternoon has been, I'm upset at myself for not having one.

Went to Philly with the kids last week, so we had a couple of meals at the Reading Terminal Market. Having watched several episodes of Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America, I had to try DiNic's roast pork sandwich, since it won the title. It was a great sandwich, but it wasn't even the best sandwich at DiNic's. If you ever find yourself there, skip the provolone. It was so strong, it overpowered the pork, which was lacking in flavor to begin with. The key is the sauteed broccoli rabe, and it is served on the classic Philly roll (sub, hoagie, grinder...), whatever you want to call it. My son said the sandwich was average, but it was the best bread ever. My daughter got "the most powerfullist meatballs ever). After trying some, she was right. It was actually spicy, and the spice really built up. Plus the basil and other seasonings were strong. I was really proud of her for loving it as much as she did. I would recommend the meatball with provolone over the pork.

I had lunch at a local brewery and thought about ordering these:

Hopadillo Poutine - housemade fries + hopadillo-beef gravy + wild mushrooms + cheese curds

Went with the following:

Fried Chicken Torta - bolillo bun + avocado + crema + refried beans + l.t.o + pickled fresnos

And two beers.

For some reason, this thread opened here. Reading the list in that article, I see Nasto's Ice Cream. The owner's son was on my baseball team, so they brought over 3 half gallons to our end of season party. Cool story, family owned business since 1939. People go nuts over it, and they ship it around the world to Newarkites who've moved on to better places, but miss the ice cream. It's average at best.

So still on the Day Off diet, lost 6.2 pounds last week. Solid start. And just dicovered the Chirashi Bowl. Low calorie, packed with protein and good fats with a complex carb portion. Perfect lunch! Who knew.
