Did you see our old pal Obafemi Martens has signed with Seattle in MLS?

He'll be coming here in two weeks, but I'll be out of town.

Michael Owen is retiring at the end of the year.

Which prompted this comment from @OptaJoke:
@OptaJoke wrote:3 - Michael Owen has been ruled out for another 3 weeks with a head injury after thinking about retiring. Sicknote.

Also, Michael Appleton has been fired as Blackburn manager. If he takes a job before the end of the season, it will be the fourth team he's managed this season (Portsmouth, Blackpool and Blackburn).

Anyone see Callum McManaman's tackle on that Newcastle player? If not, here it is:

The FA decided to take no additional action. Why? Here's their official explanation:
The FA can confirm that no action can be taken against Wigan Athletic's Callum McManaman retrospectively following his side's game against Newcastle United. Following consultation with the game's stakeholders (the Premier League, the Football League, the Professional Footballers' Association, the League Managers' Association, Professional Game Match Officials Limited and the National Game) in the summer, it was agreed that retrospective action should only be taken in respect of incidents which have not been seen by the match officials.
So basically, because one official saw the play, no additional punishment will be meted out, even though it could be a career-ending injury.

Damn. This is like the reverse Sheriff Goodell.

EDITED to remove incorrect information.

US Under 17s are playing in Panama for the Concacaf U-17 tourney. Beat Haiti 3-0 and then yesterday 1-0 over Guatemala. Face Honduras in the Quarterfinals on Sunday (Fox Soccer). Winner goes to the Middle East (4 teams from Concacaf qualify) for the U-17 World Cup.

Jozy had 3 goals in 9 minutes this weekend (2 were PKs & it was a 6-0 drubbing). 21 goals in 29 league games, 28 goals in 36 games total. Still pretty impressive

Man U is correct; Swansea City is not (Brendan Rogers and Michael Laudrup).

The three remaining teams are the very hard ones. Think early EPL.

Phil Brown was put on leave, but there were no fixtures played while he was out.

Also, Hull had two managers ... Phil Brown and Iain Dowie.
