Considering the Catarachos beat Cuba 7-1, the US should have an easy time of Cuba to move into the Final.

US falls to Mexico in PKs for the U-17 concacaf championship

Brazil beat Tahiti for the Beach title 6-0. Tahiti v. Iran was a great semi final yesterday.

Dude, I love soccer and watch a hell of a lot of it.

But Tahiti vs. Iran in beach soccer? You my friend are hard core.

Just flipping channels and caught the 3rd period (yes beach soccer is periods). Tahiti was down 1-0. Scored late on a really pretty goal and then went to PKs. I may not have stuck with it but my son was completely into it. He played a bunch of beach soccer with random kids during our spring break and liked the juggling skill/volleying.

I like Beach soccer and futsal. Way less negative play and much higher pace than the 11 v. 11 outdoor game. Also has the advantage of being more like hockey because most of the action occurs in front of the goals.

I enjoy watching futsal. It's definitely a faster paced game and has a different skill set (like rolling the ball on the ground as much as possible). It reminds me a lot of indoor soccer, which I also enjoy watching.

I recently learned my high school is organizing a futsal team, but I don't know if it's going to be a club team or a sponsored high school team.

I don't know if it will make the final build but DC United's stadium (Audi Field) has a futsal court in the drawings outside of the stadium.

I love that there's one notable missing jersey. But I'd love it even more if that missing jersey was in the glass case on the floor.

US U-20 Squad includes Jurgen's boy, Carter-Vickers, Palmer-Brown,Zelalem, and Sargent (who just had a great U-17 Concacaf run). US v. Ecuador on the 22nd and Fox has picked up coverage (which will be in the middle of the night)

Further reading has raised some interesting items. Mostly that this tournament is not in a FIFA window and teams could choose to not release players. So US does not include:

Schalke - Haji Wright, Weston McKinnie, or Nick Taitague
Fiorentina --Josh Perez
Villarreal - Mukwelle Akale
Manchester United --Matthew Olosunde (who just made the traveling group for the Arsenal match this past weekend and was training with the 1st team today as they prepare for the Europa semifinal)
Wolfsburg --McKinzie Gaines
Werder Bremen -- Isiah Young

So I don't think Olosunde is listed on Man U's Europa roster but with Bailey out and injuries it will be interesting to see what the back line will be in Stockholm.
Also the Special one has already said that Sergio Romero will start in goal for the final.

I hate Real Madrid so much that my mind made Juventus seem like a plucky underdog just to further my reasons to cheer for them.

But I've gotta say it, that was an absolutely fantastic performance. other than Ramos' brutal dive near the end, they played like champions and in the 2nd half, juventus looked like Betis or some other crappy La Liga side.

Agreed. Was sure Juve had a shot. Then the second half happened.

I got to go to the Feyenoord v MUFC group match at the Kuip in the fall. Was an incredible experience. Crowd was louder than any I've ever heard in Tuscaloosa, and half the size. Glad I got to go there before they move, but it was clearly in pretty rough shape.

Well done Canada. A late goal gives Canada a 2-1 win over a FIFA nation so small that ESPN does not have a flag for the country but uses the generic shield next to the name.

George Quaraishi sent an email to subscribers about how they pulled this off. Up until very recently Howler was solely owned and operated by him, (from Tampa, btw). A creative company bought in to Howeler, and they're linked to the comedians in the vid.

And Curacao isn't even a country.

The abject shittiness of the Canadian mens soccer team is almost impossible to fathom considering the fact that just about every Canadian kid plays soccer at some point in their youth. It's not like a Jamaican bobsled team situation...

A few years ago I went to BMO field to watch the national team struggle for 70 minutes before finally beating St. Lucia in a preliminary round world cup qualifier.

There are 150,000 people in St. Lucia. I wouldn't be surprised if more people than that play league soccer in the city of Toronto.

Might get some rule changes. Don't see the 30 minute idea working but like some of the other ones. What is funny is back in 1990-96 when soccer was trying to take hold i the U.S. some of these same ideas were used/in play.

And if MLS turns down Cincy for expansion they're even dumber than I thought.

Holy crap, what a finish. FC Cincy goalkeeper Hildebrant channeled Claudio Bravo and saved three Chicago penalties to win it.

Toronto is in love with FC right now. First place in the league and a thriller to win the Canadian Championship.

Even better, it was a come from behind win against Montreal. (And that is as loud as a Toronto crowd can get!)

That is a cool way to win but hard to get excited about a national cup title with 5 team in a single elimination format. I do like the requirement that 3 people in the starting 11 have to be Canadian National team eligible, but would get some magic if they had amateur teams in like the US Open Cup.

yeah Calgary Foothills et al aren't in it.

If the new Canadian Premier League actually gets off the ground, would they be in this competition? Or would it's Champion go directly to the Champions League?

The winners of League1 Ontario and PLSQ are joining this cup competition next year, but that won't improve things much. I don't know why the hesitation towards PDL clubs joining
