Based on the maintenance I have to do on my wood fence...I am expecting RFK-stadium style issues. A very interesting club.

That stadium is gorgeous - and it certainly can't be cheap.

Here's what a typical League 2 stadium looks like:

I think Forrest Green Rovers has visions of being more than a League 2 squad. More likely League 1 with an occasional shot at the Championship type aspirations from what I read.

What's more impressive is that a league 2 side could hire Zaha Hadid

I used to live in Shrewsbury (the other one) and that's a great stadium. Would love to be there for corners in a packed game.

FGR are pretty Eco-minded. Pretty sure their training table is fully vegan and has been for years.

yeah meat free stadium
Following the investment of new chairman and eco-tycoon Dale Vince, and his company Ecotricity, The New Lawn employs a number of eco-friendly features designed to help make the stadium one of the most environmentally sustainable football stadiums in the world. The playing surface features as the world's first organic football pitch,[12] meanwhile solar panels on the roof of the stadium as well as outside will eventually provide enough electricity to power 25 per cent of the stadium.[13]

The pitch also collects rainwater to be recycled around the stadium and all waste cooking oil at the club is recycled into biofuel. The club introduced a solar powered 'MowBot' in April 2012 which cuts the grass on the pitch and uses GPS technology to automatically guide it round the pitch without the need for human intervention.[14] It is the first solar powered robotic lawn mower to be used on a football pitch in British football.

Local farmers use the grass cuttings from the stadium to condition their soil plus the stadium is the first meat-free football stadium in the country after the club changed to an environmentally sustainable menu in February 2011.[15] The area outside the stadium has also been developed into a habitat for wildlife through the planting of wild flowers and native trees.[16]

TIL there's a Champions League anthem. Did John Tesh compose it?

Bruh, the CL anthem is iconic! The lyrics, less so.

Roundball Rock being used by Fox's College Hoops coverage is a CRIME.

I don’t watch nearly as much soccer as most of u guys. But today I watched some of West Ham v. Fucking Manchester United™ . I was sort of confused by the Hammers wearing sky blue kits. I thought they always wore maroon and blue. So... is this a new thing?

Teams have started wearing away kits that have no relation to their established colours.

Also 3rd kits that are often absurd.

I don't know when this started, but for at least 20 years, the away kits change almost every year, and the 3rd kits became more prevalent maybe 15 years ago. The colors a team are known for are the home jersey, and the away jersey can completely change year to year. I used to assume it was a ploy to generate shirt sales, but looking at a chart of Arsenal away kits through history, it goes back to the very beginning. Randomly switching from white, to blue, to referee stripes to yellow... It looks like Arsenal wore a 3rd kit in 1966, then again in 1994, but in 2000 new 3rd kits happened every year or two. I always loved looking at historical kit charts.

The streets are mobbed with fans celebrating!

This is where Canada shines - against tiny Caribbean nations (and in this case, an overseas money laundering centre for rich Brits). Aruba! You're next!

If you thought Canada's 11-0 win yesterday was a massacre, Japan beat Mongolia 14-0, pumping in three in added time just for shits and giggles.

To be fair ...

... the Mongolians have had it coming for a couple of centuries now.
