Pitchers who've thrown a perfect game and at least one additional no-hitter:

Cy Young, Addie Joss, Sandy Koufax, Jim Bunning, Randy Johnson -- All current Hall of Famers.

Roy Halladay -- Certain Hall of Famer not yet eligible

And Mark Beuehrle. Interesting list.

Beurhle was solid for a long time. Could definitely be a good teams number 2.

Jimmy Piersall. Won a couple Gold Gloves and played in a couple All-Star games. Known as a great defensive outfielder. But probably best known for his highly-publicized mid-career battle with mental illness (at a time when that sort of thing was usually swept under a rug). Book and movie about it while he was still in the majors, called Fear Strikes Out. Later, a broadcaster for the White Sox (with Harry Caray), notable for his great willingness to criticize his own team.

When I was living in Chicago (93-96), Piersall used to do regular appearances on WSCR radio. He was unintentionally hilarious, and could never remember White Sox player's names (he had a huge mental block about Ron Karkovice, the catcher).

He's also famous for running the bases backwards after his 100th career home run.

Aww, that's too bad. He seemed to have a sense of humor about his Batman legacy. Seemed like a good guy.

Adam West was on the Gilbert Gottfried podcast not long ago and he sounded like a truly happy - and very goofy - man who had all his marbles and who revelled in his memories..

Not a bad way to be in your late 80s!

Easily one of my favorite movies ever. And the tv show was the reason I liked Batman in the first place. RIP, Mayor of Quahog, Rhode Island.

I've heard him on a couple podcasts, and he seem like a complete nutjob. Not necessarily in a bad way, and he certainly didn't take his role as Batman too seriously, he was just a strange bird. Also read some crazy stories about him and Burt West partying like Bojack Horseman and fucking everything in site. Like Bojack Horseman.

A high school friend went to college with Adam West's daughter, who was allegedly ridiculously hot. First day as a freshman, he saw Batman moving her into her dorm.

And thank Google, here is a creepy cameo of West's daughter playing a sexy vixen sexual conquest for Burt Ward in the Adam West movie. Yeah, she was hot alright.

I saw that last night, and didn't realize those two movies had the same director. Dude was good at building and then releasing a certain tension, I guess.

Yeah, he was an outstanding "popular entertainment" director, and I don't mean that as a backhanded compliment.

Also did the underrated Lean on Me with Morgan Freeman.

Not taking away from the requisite "sad that he's dead" stuff, but touting his record as USWNT coach as "best in history" seems like it should come with a huge caveat/asterisk considering the US was about one of only three or four countries playing at even a remotely high level during his tenure.

ETA: may have just been Jersey on the wall not nUmber actually retired.

From the Guardian -
Bond, who published his first book, A Bear Called Paddington, about the marmalade-loving bear from deepest, darkest Peru, in 1958, died at home after a short illness.

The author, born in Newbury, Berkshire, in 1926, kept writing until his death. His most recent Paddington story, Paddington’s Finest Hour, was published in April.
91 years of age. Not a bad way to go. And a guy who's legacy will live on, and will keep making kids happy for years and years to come.
