Probably just remembered why they had broken up previously.

Similar to when the Pixies reunited. Took one tour for Kim Deal to say "Oh yeah...I hate Frank Black"...

I wonder if there's going to be something down the line about the "commercial" sound. Even if you didn't know St. Vincent was working with them, you'd know it from the single above.

Heard it on the radio yesterday, and it definitely sounded more produced than I remember SK sounding previously. That being said, Call the Doctor is probably the album of theirs that I've heard the most, and that is quite lo fi.

Maren Morris creeps my whole family out (except my mom) because she looks exactly like my 4.5 year old.

If you (the royal you) haven't already (and why haven't you?) read the book the excerpt came from. After all this quote below is funny enough as it is, but it's 10x funnier if you know the context.
To be fair … me, Adam, and Mike were sitting in that meeting obviously high as kites and dressed in our best Madilyn Grasshoff outfits, looking like we were on our way to a Cymande concert. I’m sure the lack of confidence was mutual.

Any takes on the new Bon Iver?

I'm digging it more than 22, A Million. Seems like more of a return to form and reminds me a lot of the stuff Vernon does in Volcano Choir (which is a good thing).

In fact, I'm a little worried it might be years or longer before we get another Volcano Choir album now.

Haven't heard anything yet, I'm waiting for my very long walk on Wednesday while the rest of the family is at Frozen on Broadway, but I like that you say its not like the last one. That didn't click for me at all.

It's still electronic (though not as pronounced) but more sad if that makes sense, so I suspect you'll mostly approve.

ETA: I would say it's about as "electronic" as the Volcano Choir stuff, but not as much as the last album, so that's where my assessment comes from. There's probably never gonna be another Justin Vernon album in any project that doesn't have significant electronic elements.

(And I'll add as much as I wasn't a huge fan of the 22, A Million songs, they performed the absolute fuck out of them live, so that was good to see.)

I like Peter Gabriel’s 3rd LP, AKA ‘Melt’, most of all his LPs.

I guess ‘So’ wins out though.

Can’s ‘Tago Mago’ is their 3rd effort, probably their best, though I like Ege Bamyasi better.

Rod Stewart’s 3rd solo LP, Every Picture Tells a Story, in my opinion is better than Gasoline Alley (his 2nd).

Talking Heads 3rd LP, Fear of Music, is easily my favorite LP of theirs (though Remain in Light is probably their best)..

Verve’s ‘Urban Hymns’ is their 3rd LP. I like ‘A Storm in Heaven’ more, but that’s really the best answer to that tweet.

I enjoy DMB's Before These Crowded Streets overall more than I do the rest.

In Utero is vastly superior to Nevermind. Nevermind has maybe four or five good songs. In Utero is almost perfect from beginning to end.

You could probably say Zenyatta Mondatta, too but then again The Police didn’t really have a glaring weak spot in their 5 LP run.

Well...

To me, I can interchange the first three of both of them. I also put a lot of stock in an album having my favorite song of the band. This Desert Life has three of my favorite Counting Crows song, including my favorite.

Also, my first sentence was referencing Radiohead.

I stand by it. I'm not saying Nevermind sucks or anything, but I feel like In Utero was Nirvana fully realized, just like OK Computer was Radiohead fully realized vs. The Bends. Some people prefer The Bends and that's fine -- they're not "wrong", it's a great album, but OK Computer shows what Radiohead was really capable of.

I used to think OK Computer was overrated because I love The Bends so much (easily my favorite album ever and has been since 2002), but luckily I realized what a stupid opinion that was.

I haven't listened to In Utero recently, but Nevermind holds up.

I also think "Scentless Apprentice" is possibly Nirvana's best song ahead of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", but I realize I'm well in the minority on that.

I won't beat a dead horse because it's only an opinion and they're both great albums, but I think the song writing is just much better/stronger on In Utero. One of the reasons Cobain's death sucked so much beyond the obvious is that I think Nirvana was actually getting better and there's no telling what they might have been able to do had he lived. They could have been up there with the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, up in that stratosphere. I really believe that.

Verdict on walking the perimeter of Central Park: Meh. West side far more interesting than the east. Skipped the south because I’ve done it and it’s terrible.

Verdict on new Bon Iver: Forgot. Still don’t love IAETF, liked Cry, Cry, Cry more this listen.
