Phoebe Bridgers smashed a guitar on Saturday Night Live last night. I adore her so much.

I hate that she wasn’t able to / didn’t hit the loud shit on the hook to “Kyoto”. Love that part.

Shouldn't be surprised at a bunch of misogynistic twats getting their panties in a bunch about Phoebe Bridgers SNL performance, but it still makes me angry.

You really wish they could have set up focus groups where 1/2 of them saw like ... Anthony Kiedis? ... do the same shit and have them react.

They probably all worship at the altar of classic rock.

That album has finally clicked. I'm pretty sure Bapo tried to get me into it like a decade ago (and he wasn't the first) but it just never worked until this year when I was doing an album-a-week thing with a dad here. I think going back to older albums requires the right timing as much as anything with me.

Looking at my notes I really liked songs 1-3, 7, 9 and 10 and despised 8 with the middle TBD.

(That week I'd give Girls Album and he made an Elvis Costello vocal comp which upset me doubly as my wife had just done the same.)

4 & 5 are filler, IMHO

6 Time Trap is one of my faves, and I'd guess it will grow on you

8 You Were Right is a bit of a grower for me, with lyrics that are pretty obviously a nod to prior songs

Yeah, it just seemed so basic. Like Okkervil River's "Plus Ones" you atleast need to think about a few, this is just straight callbacks.

I don't know how anything tops Carry the Zero, but there are definitely contenders. Wouldn't put Goin' Against Your Mind in the contenders group, but wouldn't blame you for doing so. Else, Distopian Dream Girl, Out of Site, Kicked it in the Sun, Randy Described Eternity are all up there for me.

Actually the first couple tracks on his new LP remind me a bit of Built to Spill.

Did you know that Paul Anka's The Times of Your Life - which rose to #7 on the charts in February 1976 and spent 12 weeks in the Top 40 began its life as a song in Kodak commercial that aired first in 1975? Anka took his work on that and made it into a full version after the campaign began.

Also, Kodak was a camera company.

Paul Anka was a human person who sang songs.

Cameras were things people used to use to take pictures.

A piece of it was recently used in a Downy commercial.

Which seems to be what has ripped some long buried neurons free in my head.

Yeah it is.

Nice story about the band and the new album: The Best Live Band In Rock Is No Longer Live, But Still Holding Steady
Those massive nights will have to wait until the world comes back to normal. If the world comes back to normal. “I mean, I hope at some point everyone feels safe enough to celebrate, and to behave like that again.” But for now, the world’s best live rock band is stuck at home, just like you.

Same, really good first listen. Sent a note to a friend with similar taste and he asked if I’d ever seen her sing before and sent a link. I had not and if you haven’t either ... it’s jarring.

Seen her live. Walked into Shaky Knees after flying on one of the morning daily RTs to Atlanta. Had never heard of her before, and the festival was nowhere near full. Just her and a guitar. She was at National Homecoming as well. Big fan.
