The color commentator for this Wichita State-Pitt game is having a stroke over a flagrant foul call. Yes, it's an unfortunate call, but really, chill the fuck out.

I'd put solid money down that Stevens is going to be at Butler for the foreseeable future.

Just .02 from your resident Indy guy on the board.
It's not just the money. Duke and Carolina routinely get the kind of talent that even Stevens will rarely see at Butler. Yes, they've had a couple of NBA players in the past few years. How many did Carolina and Duke have at the same time?

It was two shots and the ball. In the first half. No ejection. What's the big deal--he elbowed his opponent in the face. Lots of words being spilled on the tv over nada.

Delladanova and St. Marys completely dictating pace v Memphis State so far. We'll see if/when athleticism asserts control.

Whoa, whoa whoa, stop the clock! The Wichita State coach makes $1 million in base salary?

It wasn't that long ago that I made more than your typical mid-major hoops coach. At least that profession had their salary keep up with inflation. Shit, iirc Ben Howland's first contract in Westwood had a lower base salary than mine. That is a true shocker to me.

If he makes it to the NBA, Bhullar would be the league's tallest player by about 2 inches over Hamed Haddadi. (Ilgauskas, shorter, and Ming, taller, are retired). Bhullar also lost a ton of weight; he was pushing 400 until he got it together. Bigfatpunjabi. His younger brother is 7'2" or so.

Sim'd be a natural choice for the Raptors, given that Toronto has a huge Punjabi community.

That's a mercy killing. St. Mary's could barely stand up at times in the second half. IzzoBall might have sent a few of them to the hospital.

I suppose it's an upset. Again, worst bracket ever. If your 8-seed is a 5 point favorite and your 3-seed is a 3 point favorite, you screwed up.

Thing is, it wasn't even much of a collapse. They missed one free throw (out of about 8 down the stretch) and then had that ugly turnover. The rest of the last 2:00 they did all you could expect. But then the #317 3-point shooting team hit three in a row.

i decided to be a maverick and not pick a 12/5 upset this year. after making that decision, i had to fix my bracket to reflect my thinking.

i moved oregon back and osu up. dummy.

That was some strange seeding. I know the Pac-12 sucks, but Oregon finished second in the league and won the tournament, and got a #12. For comparison, Colorado finished fifth and got a #10. Arizona finished fourth and got a #6.

Is Harvard going to win an NCAA Tournament game? Craziness.

I find it funny that Mizzou has maintained their tradition of underperforming in the tournament no matter who their coach is. (In fairness, they are only an 8 seed, but still.)

9. So they technically didn't underperform in the tournament at all.

Gah, you're right. I misread that. I guess I always assume the power conference team is the higher seed.

Back in the Norm Stewart days, Mizzou's tournament failings were a regular column feature in the STL Post-Dispatch.

Quite a feat, and quite a first, if the smart guys win. They've never won an NCAA game (they also went 66-years without even making the tournament), never won in the NIT, never won in the CIT.

Good recall on the 1987 tournament, Dave. I sure as heck had to look up that reference.

I read about it a little before I posted. Watching, it dawned on me that their careers overlapped (Amaker was point on that great '86 Duke team and Alford won the title in '87), so a quick Google search turned up a reference to that game.
