Will be tough to beat.

Re: Swampers on the golf course
I played this last weekend and it was probably the most fun I've had on the course ever. Decent golf, not getting upset at the bad shots, beer, smoke, relatively low humidity, and, most importantly, good friends I haven't been able to hang out with in a long while.

Re: Swampers on the golf course
Played both sat and sun this weekend with the wife. First 8 holes was 8 over, next 28 holes 4 over. Weird weird weird, but as good a stretch as I’ve played in a couple of months. Had 16 pars yesterday, even though I wasn’t driving the ball very well. Everything else was good, and take away one bad shot and get one of three putts that lipped out to drop and I hit my first ever sub-par 18. That’s my goal for next summer.
As an aside, it is absolutely fantastic that my wife is as nuts about golf as I am. She’s been taking lessons recently which has helped her game a lot, and the improvements she’s had have her hooked. Now she wants to play any chance she can get, and doesn’t care if I want to do the same. Also now interested in retiring on a golf course somewhere, so that also makes me happy.

LA has vacillated between wanting to learn how to play and "I'll let golf be your thing like skating is mine." the ease of trying out golf in the back yard is also hindered by me being lefthanded.

Gotta say I really enjoy my wife blistering the luddites on the course who come out of the ladies room out on the loop having failed to flush, put down the seat, or wash their hands. She’s brutal and it’s always hilarious.

Re: Swampers on the golf course
Thanks. I’ve played a LOT this year. Most I’ve played since I was 14/15 years old. Early this summer I was just playing, without a lot of mindfulness of what I was doing wrong. Made a conscious effort to just hit range balls mid summer and work on some stuff and it helped immensely. I still have some tempo issues, and when I’m playing poorly it’s almost always a case of getting too quick at the top of my swing. My miss is a pull/hook with a shit load of top spin because I rip my hands down and through. That’s really hard to correct when on the course because my personality tends to “TRY HARDER” when things aren’t going well. I’ve worked on a couple mnemonics and a more fixed mental routine before I approach each shot and it’s really helped.
Also changed my putting stroke a bit, and now use a three phase stroke. Basically I have trouble controlling my speed if I just pull the putter straight back and go. Now I start my stroke first with a slight movement forward with my hands. Not sure it’s for everyone, but my short putting has really improved.
Re: Swampers on the golf course
I've also been playing a ton. Adopted the Dechambeau style for the driver and holy shit does it work.

It's now officially the time of year when I feel emotional pain when I think of you lucky guys who can still golf.

Move to Alabama where as long as you don’t mind swamp ass you can play year round.
Re: Swampers on the golf course
The maxed-out range of motion in the arms, hands, etc.

Re: Swampers on the golf course
That's part of it, but now when I do it the ball goes straight most of the time. It's crazy. Though I feel like I'm going to cause some serious nerve damage to my left arm at times, so I don't practice it as much anymore. I wouldn't bet on DeChambeau to have a great post-35ish year old career.A_B wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:04 amI bet it's the swing hard as shit part.
