Early start? What’s the overall review?

Very early. Big fan. Barnett is great. Take half a glance at the playlists, plan pee breaks accordingly. That being said, bathroom was really close, and I missed very little.

Thursday night was the worst setlist but best show I’ve been to. Rain kept people under cover for Courtney Barnett but we had ponchos and ended up about 5 rows back on the right side of the stage. Great energy, really like the new stuff better with just one guest (Kate Staples) and they seemed really appreciative of the crowd. The encore was, I think, five songs with “Vanderlyle” a singalong with him out in the crowd.

Bryan (@postmoderndrummer) live Instagrammed a show again last night. Should be up for the next six hours at least. Light Years, Mr. November, Terrible Love.

Semi-opposite in that I've stopped listening and choose to pretend the concert is what the album sounds like.

The only other acceptable answer is Alligator moving ahead of High Violet.

I have officially flipped this flip.

Saw it on my phone the other day (harder to respond than on computer), and thought I needed a proper listen to all 6 albums to recalibrate. A call out like this deserves a fully thought out response.

It is now official Swamp/The National canon that a 15 or 16 year old Berninger saw The Monster Squad in the theater and laughed cathartically at the “Wolfman’s got nards” bit and then cried when Frankenstein’s Monster sacrificed himself to save Phoebe. Not only did this lead him to repeatedly attempt to shoehorn a Monster Squad reference into his lyrics, the latter scene was the inspiration for the track Brainy on Boxer.

I've got a new one but not for now because I'm on vacation starting tomorrow: Create a best of album but you have to stick with the song's album position, so maybe 1-12 and then #13 is either one of the few 13+ tracks or unreleased or something. First glance promises "this won't be easy for you fucking dorks".

I've done that with DMB albums a lot. Never thought about expanding it.

ETA: Didn't realize this was The National thread. Oops. I'll go 1-13 the new one.

Did you just think of that today? Because if not and if I was you, I would have flaked off my last couple of days at work prior to vacation trying to get that perfect for the car or ipod or whatever. I might still do that myself before I go on vacation next week.

So I meant like you pick one 1st song from all the albums, one 2nd song ... etc, not re-rank, although I'm pretty sure we started doing that a while back in this thread.

Track 14 is Rylan, even if you don't care for the album version.

In my head, I sang before the comma in Matt's voice and after the comma in the faux-operatic voices of half a dozen women.

If being a more casual fan means not flipping out every time I hear Rylan on the radio this summer, I’ll take it.
