So have any Swampers actually listened to any ICP music other than that magnets song?

Yes. It's hit or (mostly) miss, but I've heard much worse.

Yeah, they suck, but some of the songs from "Great Milenko" are passable.

A friend of mine spent the weekend in Columbus. I tried to talk him into going to the Gathering since he'd only be a few miles away, but I don't think he ever seriously considered it. Too bad. I would have loved to have heard his account. (He's pretty much a younger version of me, and he would have felt horribly out of place.)

On Monday, I did a Google News search and read a bunch of articles about the Gathering. Nothing really zany. Probably has a lot to do with the fact that it was held at an actual concert venue this year instead of some dude's ranch in downstate Illinois. No more Drug Bridge or Hepatitis Lake. The end of an era, sadly.

Such is the power of the Swamp that when I got a tweet a few minutes ago that a venue here in LV announced a Panda Bear show in April I immediately thought of bapo. (And wrote down a reminder to buy tickets.)

I've given a lot of money to Grizzly Bear over the years, but I'll probably pass on this one. You're more adventurous in the kitchen than I am, so maybe you'd get something out of it.

Brian, have you listened to the new Panda Bear album yet? I really like the second half of it. 'Lonely Wanderer' has that ragged, messy feel of something that Animal Collective would have recorded for 'Sung Tongs' or 'Feels.'

Don't expect much out of the concert in terms of a gripping stage presence. I enjoyed seeing him in September, tho, because I was able to hear a preview of the new album.

And if you haven't read it, this feature in Pitchfork is worth a read. Mostly about his life in Lisbon and how he's still relatively unknown and anonymous, despite being about as big as a musician can get in the indie realm. Living in Portugal and staying off social media will do that, I guess.

It's only a matter of time until this storm is downgraded to a depression. (Hey-ooooooh!) And if it's anything like its namesake, it will inflict much more damage on itself than on anybody else, so I don't think that Brazil has anything to fear.

Aaand I'm spiraling down an ICP rabbit hole, Whoop Whoop! If you don't hear from me in 3 days, send Faygo. This is fascinating shit. I need to read the book about Juggalos and Phish fans Bapo! wrote about a few years back.

There were rumors of a Deadspin piece over the weekend. I guess it dropped.
