As a Browns fan in the 80s, I really liked him too.

His run with Cleveland, San Diego and Kansas City was weird. Always winning in the regular season, but so snake bitten in the playoffs.

Alzheimers and dementia are sad things. My father is completely functional (when he's sober), but will tell me the same stories over and over and over again. He can remember minor details from years ago, but sometimes can't recall the most basic things.

Oops.

I wonder, though, how much that story is missing. I'd be surprised if there was really so much reliance on this guy's mathematical analysis without anyone thinking about whether correlation proved causation.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Sounds like there was just a reliance on precedence and the belief that the Wimbledon way was a particularly English way to play. Some of it may have been overstated - after all, Clough and others didn't play the long ball style - but still a pretty interesting podcast.

This is front page news on a regular basis out here. Multiple lawsuits, alleging different reasons and different culprits. Nobody thinks/admits they are in any way culpable. It's a clusterfuck.

Kind of funny how many of those places are college towns.

Back in the olden days before the drinking age was 21 everywhere, you had some funny situations. When I was about 23, I worked for a company based in Denver that had operations all over the country. I got sent for 2-3 weeks out to a start-up operation in the small town of Hudson, Wisconsin, which is just over the border, pretty close to Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. The drinking age was 18 in Wisconsin, but higher in Minnesota. So, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in particular, this town got flooded with young drinkers. To me, it seemed like every other place in town was a bar. And, the prices! Draft beers for 50 cents, and Thursday was 2-for-1 night! My boss was in from St. Louis and he and I met a couple very friendly local girls and had a great time getting drunk and laid in Hudson, Wisconsin.

I wonder if that data is skewed because one of the sources is the University of Wisconsin. Might they just have more data about Wisconsin towns?

I actually spent a hazy weekend in Madison, so yeah, I get it. But folks do a lot of drinking in lots of other parts of the country too.

Having lived the first half of my life within 30 miles of Wisconsin, and having had a good friend go to Marquette, I have no problem believing that Wisconsin is the drunkest place.
