Re: Deadspin
Drew has to quit too right? I’m thinking he is the final nail and they have something planned. But he just can’t stay.
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.
Re: Deadspin
Drew needs to quit. He has plenty of other employment opportunities (assuming no non-compete contract clause - do those exist in journalism?)

Re: Deadspin
Where is his health insurance though? He’s racked up a ton of medical bills in the last year - he may not be immediately able to move off that if his insurance is through the deadspin gig as opposed to one of his side hustles or through his wife.
Re: Deadspin
That Barstool scumbag Portnoy was taunting Magary on Twitter. I shouldn’t be this juvenile but I couldn’t help myself.

Just deleted the bookmark from my Chrome toolbar. Had given it a couple of muscle memory clicks the past couple of days and don't want to do that anymore. Fuck them.

It's like the time my favorite sports message board completely alienated me by enabling tweets and then nobody could communicate in not tweets anymore.

Re: Deadspin
Its good! Kinda fell apart at the end, but the premise is really interesting.
The Hike was good too. I wasn't sure where it was going, but the ending pretty much floored me.
The Deadcast that came out last night/this morning was pretty weird. Clearly, they knew it was 95% going to be their last one.

I went out of my way to not post a Tweet in the irony thread yesterday.

Thank you, Rass. You also created that nice tweet transcription thread for me. You're good.

I forget. What's the reason you can't see tweets? Are you not able to swamp from mobile?

But, like Gregg Williams’ coaching career, the spirit of Deadspin strangely cannot be killed.

Ah. The Air Force does the same on their network. However, I am allowed to log into Facebook.

https://www.theringer.com/2019/10/31/20 ... orts-media
This week, Slate’s Ben Mathis-Lilley described the growing class of “zombie” publications: “Trustworthy brand-name publications are being hollowed out and refilled with unpaid ‘community’ contributors or low-paid, less experienced professionals who don’t have the stature to challenge editorial imperatives or productivity quotas that generate useless, often-inaccurate content.”
Without really trying, a reader can access a whole zombie content library. In addition to Deadspin and SI, Newsweek, Playboy, LA Weekly, U.S. News & World Report, The Hill, and newspapers like The Denver Post all exist in varying states of catatonia. The Los Angeles Times and Texas Monthly narrowly missed joining the list. To honor the company that gutted SI, we can call this process the Mavening. The Mavening is the way media overlords taunt readers by forcing them to watch as they drag around the corpse of a beloved friend.

Our FRONT PAGE was the template for a lot of these motherfuckers. The one guy that went from his own hysterical Sunday Football column to Yahoo (Shutdown Corner, I think it was) did give us credit for getting him started.
I WOULD GLADLY START WRITING FOR THE FRONT PAGE AGAIN
I felt this way when the National stopped publishing.

G/O Media's editorial director resigns after fall of Deadspin
Last week, Deadspin's editorial staff resigned in the wake of a "stick to sports" mandate handed down to them in a memo. On Tuesday, the person whose name was on that memo — Paul Maidment — announced that he has resigned from his position as editorial director of G/O Media, Deadspin's parent company.
Maidment said in a note to staff Tuesday that he was pursuing an "entrepreneurial opportunity."
