MLB is not the King of sports anymore. They need to realize that and adjust accordingly.
can't do that, FOX has the Sunday afternoon NFL game of the week. That game actually pulls in more ratings than the Sunday or Monday night games.

Not necessarily.
First of all, FOX doesn't necessarily have to get the late afternoon slot that week. It goes back and forth between CBS and FOX. Theoretically they could work it so that FOX could do the WS at 5 p.m. ET
Second, the Sunday night game almost always gets better ratings than the Sunday afternoon GoTW, though it does depend on the matchup. But all things being equal, that NBC game is usually the highest rated TV show in America each week.
Third, doesn't matter anyway since whether you're talking about the Sunday afternoon game or the Sunday night game, the ratings absolutely crush the World Series anyway, so Fox isn't going to care about making allowances for baseball.

That would be easy to flip flop with CBS during the WS, just like CBS used to do with Sept US Open Tennis Finals.

NFL used to not have Sunday night games if there was a WS game at same time. Not sure when that changed.
Right when the NFL realized the WS didn't move the needle on their football games, I suspect!

Fox has an NFL tripleheader and then the World Series Sunday. I think it lines up just how they want it.

Good read. I think it's the lack of star power. Mets and Royals are great teams with no stars. Perhaps baseball does a poor job or marketing? The Royals needed to be on tv more.
Or football is king and people only have to much time for sports in their schedule.
Who are the stars in baseball today. Harper? Trout? who are the best pitchers? Kershaw? King Felix? Sale?
None of these guys are near the World Series.
The Royals were on national television more than 10 times in 2015. They were near the top of MLB.

He's a guy where, the more you watch him, (1) the more you like him and (2) the more you realize he's not as great as you thought he was.
Yup he just hits bullets. Now 3 for 10 on the series 2 HR

I just saw Syndergaard's postgame comments about the first pitch of the game.
NOAH SYNDERGAARD: Yeah, I mean my first words I said to Travis when we walked in the clubhouse today is, How do you feel about high and tight for the first pitch and then a curveball for the second one? So I feel like it really made a statement to start the game off, that you guys can't dig in and get too aggressive because I'll come in there.
I can only imagine the reaction if Ventura had done the same thing and said the same thing.

Their combined ERAs must be 100.
What? Familia didn't give up any hits and did exactly what he needed to do to get out of that jam. If Duda makes a decent throw home, this game is over.

I know but it's still a blown save and the Royals put the ball in play.

He came in with the tying run on second and no outs. Not all blown saves are created equal. Similarly, there's a good chance he gets out of the 8th last night if not for Murphy's brutal error. Only thing you can blame Familia for in this series is the Gordon homer in Game 1.

Yes. It amazes me how the Royals just get to closers, or maybe defenses in general. Familia and Osuna were just lights out before playing the Royals. How many saves have been blown against them in this postseason? 6? Yet their closer Davis just strikes everyone out.

Fox's narrative has to make it sound like the Royals are the second coming of the '27 Yankees as opposed to a very good team that got hot and lucky at the right time.
In addition, a small factor may have been using their stronger finances due to coming close in 2014 to successfully add a lot of talent to an already very good team.

(Crazy world, in that with a few better decisions and well timed hits, we'd have similar people arguing Cuddyer wasn't a huge and predictable disaster and that his leadership and influence on the younger players was immeasurable.)

This warms my heart more than Mr. D's congratulations.

Story of the series right here, Mets win expectancy late in 3 of 4 losses ...
Game 1: Peaks at 90% when Perez grounds out to start the 9th
Game 2: Reaches 83% after Escobar's leadoff groundout in the 8th
Game 5: Enter top of the 9th at 94.3%
That's brutal.
