I wish we were playing in the real tournament right now. I just won a big pot and am up to $250k, good for sixth place.

And that's what I did. I actually had pretty good hole cards. The flop came with some trouble though, so I could be cooked.

And I'm done.

I actually had QJ in the small blind - not a terrible place to jam before the flop (when you have a very short stack). Unfortunately, it happened to be a hand where another dude had AA.

I'm pretty sure that's my worst showing ever.

I seem to remember someone got to the final table a while ago. Maybe PDX?

I finished 14th in 2012-2013.

ETA: timgod99 finished in 4th place in 2007-2008.

Wow, that's awesome. What's the best finish for a Swamper?
I seem to remember someone got to the final table a while ago. Maybe PDX?

I finished 14th in 2012-2013.

ETA: timgod99 finished in 4th place in 2007-2008.
I did real well one year but don't remember if it was final table. Maybe like 12th or something

Nice, Sabo! Got a little lucky there, which I guess is necessary.

Thanks!

I just wrote this out to AB in our instant messenger chat, but I'll post it here to explain my play.
I was in third place with 13 players remaining. The chip leader and second place guy are at my table, too. The chip leader has been bullying everybody for the last couple of weeks. I've been folding a lot of hands - even ones that I normally would've played - because I was expecting him to go all in all the time. It's hard to play a hand with a king and jack offsuit when the chip leader keeps going all in.

When I saw the chip leader fold and pokerchimp went all in, I felt like my AQs was a very strong hand. When Mark Horn - who was in second place - also called, I knew I would be in first place if I won the hand. And it was fantastic that the second place guy was involved too because if I win the hand, I'm going to get a huge part of his stack.

I know there was a chance I could lose. But the possibility of getting into first place and really putting a dent in the second place guy's stack were key points for my play.
So yeah, I might've been a little lucky, but I played that way for a reason.

Oh yeah, jamming on AQs wasn't a bad play at all. It's just that a larger stack then called you with AK. You were in a risky spot, but it worked out perfectly.

Well, it was fun while it lasted. I finished in fifth place. Pretty happy with how I played overall, but I'll admit I could've done better when I was the chip leader. I've never been in the lead in a tournament before, so I wasn't sure exactly what to do. I've learned a good lesson, and fortunately, it was a free lesson. :)
