Well how about that, got recruited this afternoon to participate in a golf tournament on Monday on behalf of the company. Looks like I'll be missing a day of work to play some free golf.....this is almost like a yellow person's dream.

Free golf.
Free paid day off.

Hooray!!

Oh and best part of it all, my co-worker got upset that she wasn't asked and pulled the sexism card! She makes me laugh at her anger issues.

I saw the prairie forecast this morning so it looks like you'll have a nice day. That's just awesome. Quite a few nice courses in and around YYC.

ugh the weather's been awful, rained all day today and the same tomorrow.

I'm wondering what the hell is going to happen with this golf tournament tomorrow. I e-mailed the lawyer who I'm going with and he said it's still on.

Seems almost impossible that the course isn't flooded.

Hey, degen. Ever observe that "theweathernetwork" is just about always wrong? The Environment Canada forecast is better, more reasonable. But, still. 2013 and satellites and shit everywhere and they can't even tell us if it is going to rain tomorrow morning.

Bring another pair of socks. Really. Or two. That's good advice. It'll probably just drizzle. In which case your day will still rock.

Worst case scenario is that they give up on the golf and open the bar. Speaking for everyone everywhere . . . I've had worse experiences in worse places.

But, yes. Socks. Lots of socks.

Funny you say that, as I had essentially the same discussion with a friend yesterday. Theweathernetwork has fucked me a few times recently, not just with sun/rain but also with temperature. Thing is that it's the time of year here when you have to make a decision in the morning based on a forecast to go with pants or shorts, and it's mildly annoying for the remainder of the day to be wrong. It's hard out here for a pimp. I'll give Environment Canada a try.

It ain't easy.

Just to pile on. If you look at TWN on the telly (Shaw Cable 70), you might see YYJ displaying at 15°C. Meanwhile, their website will show YYJ at 23°C. Meanmeanwhile, outside, it's raining.

Environment Canada is far more stable.

Shorts, pants, pants, shorts. You can't win given the grievous and surely intentional misinformation from The Weather Network. I've been wearing a steady selection of Lululemon Capri. I figure if anyone complains I'll point out that, hey, women who are uglier than me get away with this. Or I could just go all Gordie Howe on them. Really, who'd complain to the police? "Yeah, some guy in suave stretchy yoga pants beat the crap out of me." Nah.

A buddy of mine used to "read the weather" on TWN. He's now a Member of Parliament for an outback Newfie constituency. He was pretty honest, at the time, about the fact that TWN hired on personality, camera-friendliness, "warmth" and "Canadianness", instead of, say, any actual knowledge of meteorology. He'd openly joke about the fact that he graduated with a degree in Commerce and was anchoring weather. When he first ran for Parliament, when filing papers he didn't know what occupation to call himself. So he wrote in "journalist". And it's stuck.

He also does not like to be reminded that in December of 1990, he, I and another guy ran a Rhinoceros Party campaign against Jean Chrétien's parachute candidacy in Beauséjour. Good times, nevertheless.

And sincere condolences, degen. That so sucks.

That stinks -- had a similar opportunity get rained out a few years ago..... There should be some sort of mandatory rain check with these offers to offset the disappointment.

Here is what I learned this morning

Post by howard »

That in urban settings, it is not unusual for rats to nest inside of automobiles. And for them to munch on electrical wires. And for said wires to short, and cause a fire (real real little fire, in a fuse box in the trunk.

Rats. Shit. Didn't see that coming.

I had something similar happen with mice a few years back. Didn't start a fire or anything, but they did fuck with my wires. The parking garage at my current complex is apparently also infested with mice, but thankfully I've been spared thus far.

There is a company in the United States (well USA and Brazil) who does this. Traffic Sports Marketing. They have put on a number of FIFA soccer tournaments (gold cups, the 1991 Club World Cup, etc). I think one of the key players in the US branch of this company was Fernando Clavijo.
