I was thinking somewhere slightly closer to the mainland. Like Halifax, or Dartmouth, maybe a nice trailer park.
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

Those colonies were governed by Liberal Socialist Fascist Communists, so they are nothing but raggedly clothed, half-starved people huddled around burning garbage cans.

Stunningly beautiful, home to the greatest golf courses I will ever play...
But don't move there. The largest city is tiny, and while the people are the friendliest you may ever meet, there's nothing there unless you're a lobster fisherman.
And don't we Canadians just love that the land we love is used as an empty threat by celebrities. I mean, Alec Baldwin should be on his 4th house in Canada by now.

I've heard numerous Republican acquaintances here, including my mom and dad, saying they'll move if Trump is elected. I can't wait to throw that back in their face in a few weeks when they're pimping the obvious eventual Republican nominee.

But I had uncles who used to wail about what a communist the first Trudeau was and that they'd be better off moving to the states.
Maybe three weeks a year in Florida, but they never followed through.

You need to cut Ted some slack for not understanding how the Constitution or the Supreme Court work. After all, he is only a Princeton graduate with a degree in political science, Harvard Law grad who made Law Review, Supreme Court Clerk for Chief Justice Rehnquist and as Solicitor General for Texas, represented the State in 9 cases before the Supreme Court.

Just goes to show how Obama plays chess and the GOP plays checkers. Garland is fairly moderate, has already been vetted and approved by the full Senate and is the oldest justice nominated to the court in 45 years. In short, it's hard to vote no on his nomination without looking like obstructionists. And it saves some of the younger justices for Clinton to nominate if they do reject his nomination. If somehow he doesn't get confirmed I'm sure the first thing she'll do is say "fuck you, I'll nominate Srivathian".

Interesting that that was just added. Then again, I'm guessing a lot was just added today. With appointments of lower court judges, there's a lot of horse trading that goes on, sometimes for reasons that don't have much to do with the candidate (but do have everything to do with partisan politics).

I wonder how much this lovely quote from Sen. Hatch played into things:brian wrote:Just goes to show how Obama plays chess and the GOP plays checkers. And that quote is from last week...not 2 or 3 years ago.Sen. Orrin Hatch wrote:The president told me several times he’s going to name a moderate [to fill the court vacancy], but I don’t believe him. [Obama] could easily name Merrick Garland, who is a fine man. He probably won’t do that because this appointment is about the election. So I’m pretty sure he’ll name someone the [liberal Democratic base] wants.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter. The Rightwing media will flip out screaming about how Garland is a hardcore Liberal activist, will make sure babies are killed, the 2nd Amendment is destroyed, Christianity is criminalized while Islam is named the national religion and straight people are forced to get gay married at gunpoint by jackbooted UN troops.brian wrote:Just goes to show how Obama plays chess and the GOP plays checkers. Re: Antonin Scalia
Breezing through headlines on Google yesterday, the first couple of pages were either neutral, or noting Garland is pretty centrist, going Left on some issues, Right on others. Then the Washington Times article only discusses how Garland is a crazy anti-gun activist. The comments were pretty predictable, Obama nominated an America-hating Commie Justice so he can destroy the Constitution. And the Republicans would be crazy to even consider a nomination hearing for this Left Wing nutter. My favorites were the conspiracy theorists saying a hearing is pointless, because Garland will lie to the Senate, saying what they want to hear, then destroy America from the bench once approved. "We have no way of knowing how he would decide cases, he could say anything to the Senate!" In his 19 years as an Appellate Court Judge, he left no indication of how he would decide appealed cases.Johnnie wrote:By the looks of it, Garland is an excellent choice considering the response from everywhere except from Andrea Tantaros of Fox News.
