The only thing Glass had going from him was that he was in the "non-dirty garbage player" category but now that's out too.

Only Rangers' fans afforded him that benefit, anyway.

Meh. Best I can tell he's never been suspended and been fined once. He's a guy who talks and eats punches; that hit was out of character.

That was a shitty hit. What's your prediction on the suspension? Late as hell, hit from behind, up high... I bet he gets the Keith treatment. Rest of the regular season +1 playoff game.

Dude came back, league won't do a thing. Even beyond the benefits of him out of the lineup, I'd love to see hits like that generate big suspensions. Even if he didn't get his head, it's late and dirty as fuck.

Boston gets a loser point, so basically sets up an elimination game on Thursday with Detroit. If the Wings win they're guaranteed a playoff spot. If they lose they're probably out depending on tomorrow's game with PHI.

That Boyle hit on Girardi did not look bad at first viewing. Tough game for both teams.

Dangerous/careless versus Glass' seeming intent, but no less a major.

I like the NHL tiebreaking scenarios, but it makes for some vexing "what-ifs". Like if Boston beats Detroit in a SO tonight, then the Red Wings only have to at least take the Rangers to OT on Saturday to clinch the third place spot in the Atlantic. Of course, it would be nice to all but eliminate the Bruins and in Boston to boot tonight.

Assuming we hang on to lose here, you'll be getting Raanta. He's a legit top ~5 backup this year, but he's obviously not my beautiful Henrik.

That loss today seemed pretty inevitable the way the Wings have played this year. Of course, Boston and/or Philly could still gak their chances away. Fortunately I bet $150 on Boston tonight.

DET/BOS/PHI is trying to outdo MIN for worst way to back into the playoffs. How do the Flyers lose that game at home to Toronto??

They knew I had $$ down on Toronto to go over 68.5 points for the season. Good looking out, gents!

It's always weird when the majority of both opposing fanbases are rooting for the same team in a game. Go wings.

The Wings lose key games in the last two of the season but make the playoffs anyway, as Boston gags. Crazy.

Happy to oblige. A fine end to a disappointing season.

Pavel Datsyuk announces that this will be his last season in the NHL and that he will return to Russia next year. I'm not going to link to Mitch Albom.

Red Wings will have his $7.5 million hit on the cap next year because he signed his current contract at age 36.

Funny thing. There are only two games today, the last day of the season. But, pending the results, half of the teams in the playoffs still don't know their opponent, yet.

Did we get the playoff fantasy player pool thing going again this year?

We're waiting for Travzilla to launch his website. There were a couple posts about it a couple weeks ago. He's on it!

In the meantime, here are my first round predictions:

Detroit over Tampa Bay
Florida over Islanders
Washington over Islanders
Pittsburgh over Rangers (I'm going to assume the Pens goalie situation isn't dire.)
Blues over Blackhawks
Stars over Wild
Ducks over Predators
Sharks over Kings

Looks like we're playing with 11 forwards for a bit longer so there's a little advantage for Pitt.

Lundqvist left practice, came back, stretched a bit and left again. If this isn't what Tuukka had, I'd like the option to forfeit and head into the lottery.

Even when you factor in the 40 games minimum he will be suspended over that period.
