55 years ago yesterday, a man traveled to space for the first time, completed one orbit and returned to Earth safely, but since he was Russian we don't celebrate Yuri Gagarin. And 56 years ago yesterday, Candlestick opened.

I only know the Russian National Anthem because of Nikolai Volkoff.

I lived on Gagarin Street when I was in Russia. Not much of a tribute to the man, but it looked identically drab and dystopian as every other street and apartment project.
