Clady has been good, when healthy. But, he's been hurt badly a couple times, including an ACL last year in the preseason.

Re: 2016 NFL Offseason Thread
I thought Clady was overhyped when he was healthy off of one year where Jay Cutler decided to actually his arm talent, and now he's brittle, but...what else can NYJ do?

Good trivia question; who played left tackle on that play?

Is there any interest in doing a Swamp NFL mock draft like we've done in previous years? If so, I'll coordinate.

I'd be down. I'll take whichever team(s) are open at the end, I'll let one of the Steelers guys take their pick.

I can help and wildly guess wrong. And probably extol virtues of Manziel again.

And confusingly, The Sporting NEws says that Manziel is NOT living with Von Miller... but with Josh Gordon.

Titans just traded #1 pick to LA Rams.

I actually thought the Titans would snooker the Browns into trading up one spot but that's not a bad haul in a weak top-end draft.

Wonder if that is an ownership-driven trade to make a splash with the move to LA (more than a football one, anyway).

If they start a rookie quarterback in L.A. that 2017 #1 is going to look nice for Tennessee.

Re: 2016 NFL Offseason Thread
Why would you ever do that unless theres a QB. Even then, id probably hate it.
Re: 2016 NFL Offseason Thread
Kind of a theory question here: Would the package LA sent for #1 overall have gotten them Russell Wilson?

Re: 2016 NFL Offseason Thread
Obviously I am delighted with this trade and hope the Titans use the picks well. I would love for them to see how far Miles Jack falls (with QBs now likely going 1 & 2) and then trade up for him. If not, Jack Conklin or A'Shawn Robinson would be nice at 15 and then trade around to get the best OT/DL, CB and Safety available with the three picks at the start of the 2nd round.
This trade also means that the Titans have huge leverage during next years draft with likely two top 15 picks and an extra pick in the third round.
If the Rams are sold on one of the QBs and he plays like a No.1 should, they'll be more than happy with the deal.
If the Broncos somehow get screwed by this deal, then that is just gravy...

Will expound later as I'm away from my laptop. So so Angry. Aside from throwing Gurley into package, this is the worst possible thing this team could have done (at least the 2017 part of it).

I could see the Chiefs doing that if they weren't coming off a playoff season and thought they had a shot at the division in 2016.mister d wrote:So what level of current QB would that package get them?

When radio callers wanted Garropolo to start playing in 2014, most of the experts thought a couple of first and/or second rounders would be a fair price for Brady. We really need to peg our currency to draft picks.

Re: 2016 NFL Offseason Thread
After a day to try to make sense of this deal, it hasn't happened. Awful deal and has set this team back three years at least. Here are the points that keep swirling in my head:
-Trading six 3rd rounders and higher for one player. This has never worked out well in the past for anyone getting the one player.
- I could swallow all the 2016 picks for #1, but to throw in two high picks next year is unconscionable.
-We don't even know who they want. Maybe they know but if there is truly discussion about which qb to take, they never should have done this.
-We are four years removed from all the plaudits for fleecing Wash out of their picks, then turn around and do the exact same thing.
-Haven't we tried this before with Bradford? No matter how talented a qb may be, it means little behind a mediocre line. Neither of the top guys appears to be as good as Bradford was coming out.
-To potentially spend all the treasure for a Div I-AA player makes my head spin. Flacco is the only one that comes to mind starting from that level in recent years. It took him three years to become a solid starter and he had a much better team around him.
-This is a 7-9 team that is now almost sure to regress. I'm with Mr D in that if the Rams had shopped that pick package around, they would likely have gotten a servicable veteran qb. With a decent qb, they could easily have flipped a couple losses and been 9-7.
The only possible positive outcome is if they flip the pick to someone else and get a boatload which I don't see happening. Fisher's need to be the smartest person in the room has turned what should have been a joyous return to LA into one suffering through rookie qb growing pains and subpar results.
I guess I'm on the clock for the Swamp mock...

Re: 2016 NFL Offseason Thread
The idea that the number one pick is gonna make a publicity splash and sell tickets in LA (if that is part of the motivation) is laughable. LA will come out for a winner, and for no other reason. You can't sell tickets for a losing team if Joe friggin Namath is the QB- oops, been there, tried that.
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.
