And to think, it seemed like a slam dunk that it would be the ten dollar bill that got the new face, until a broadway play, of all things, changed the momentum.

Normally, I'd be concerned that people may not react to this in the most culturally sensitive manner as possible but the current GOP campaign season has made it clear that racism is finally dead.

Will a $20 now be known as a "Tubbie"?

Good idea; although the comment about moving Jackson to the five is pretty funny...

Now to just eliminate the penny...and the dollar bill in favor of a dollar coin.

(Sorry not sorry that I grew attached to Euro change. I don't think a $2 coin makes much sense in America though.)

Having just returned from Canada... You can scratch a maple leaf and it smells like syrup. Not joking. The possibilities with that are endless. Think of what you could do with a Rob Ford commemorative!

on a somewhat related note, after recounting in class an anecdote about how a past student of mine thought the underground railroad was actually a railroad that Af-Am rode to freedom, 3 kids sitting in the class were shocked to learn that it wasn't.

and to bring it back to rex's point: we are so fucked.

If it were up to me, I'd probably have left Jackson on the $20.

But my outrage over this, on a scale from nothing to whatever, is who gives a shit. Dudes, white people are finding ways to get really, really angry over every single fuckin' thing these days and it's starting to get really annoying.

Co-sign completely. Considering how powerful white males have been throughout history, it's pretty incredible how easily scared they get.

Yup. Unfamiliar territory.
