Matt Damon as Tom Brady is pretty obvious casting.

Anyhoo, let's be technical..this ruling upheld Goodell's ability to punish which allows his bullshit punishment to be reinstated.

He and the Pats cheated, Brady got caught, he got punished and did what guilty people typically do which is obfuscate and use the legal process.

That wasn't an observation aimed at you (for my part). Just a general observation that Goodell's inconsistent and arbitrary approach to discipline was a problem long before the NE thing...but for the most part the national chattering classes were fine with that - up until it sucked Brady and the Pats into its maw.Johnnie wrote:And you act like I wasn't on your side for "transgressions" from either of your teams.tennbengal wrote:Indeed.Gunpowder wrote:Johnnie wrote:"Justice"

Re: AFC Championship - Pats/Colts
Gordon got fucked exponentially more than Brady. Full year ban for weed in a low enough amount that his claim of second hand smoke is likely. Full year ban for drinking a beer on the team flight home after the final game of the season. Versus likely cheating in a playoff game getting a 4 game suspension. Sounds like Brady is unfairly getting off easy.Gunpowder wrote:And Johnny Manziel can play right now while Josh Gordon is permabanned, which is hilarious.

Re: AFC Championship - Pats/Colts
This one still gets my goat. 2010 was an uncapped year, but the 32 owners agreed they wouldn't go over a certain amount. Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder are both like "yeah, whatever" and don't rein in their spending, because, remember, officially it's an uncapped year. The other 30 owners are pissed they didn't go along with their collusion, and then punishes them.Gunpowder wrote:They took millions of dollars of cap space from Dallas and Washington and nobody gives like a smidgeon of a fuck. In any other situation, the other 30 are the ones that are branded the wrongdoers because they fucking colluded. And the NFLPA just lets them get away with it. That 2011 lockout really soured me a lot on the NFL. I always knew it was a business first, but that was huge point of disgust for me.
Keep in mind I feel this way even as both owners are awful human beings and own two of my team's division rivals.

All true. Oh, and let me guess. Nothing comes of this issue. It goes away without any hoopla. And Roger Goodell finds no wrong doing.
Ya know, because after the first rodeo they were going to take before and during game measurements to see if any effects happened at all and would release the results after last season. Surprise, that never happened. Oh, and despite the Ideal Gas Law and 22 scientists putting their reputations on the line to support the obvious, the Pats still had to endure the punishment because, and get this, the CBA gives him ultimately authority to dole out punishment as he sees fit. But it wasn't about Tom Brady or the Pats or that it happened in an AFC Championship. Our that there were pre-existing rules about equipment tampering. But hey! Integrity of the game! Protect the shield!
I'm not bitter or anything.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/1825 ... h-steelers"The officiating game ball procedures were followed, and there were no chain of command issues," the NFL said in a statement Sunday. "All footballs were in compliance, and no formal complaint was filed by the Giants with our office."
The league issued the statement after Fox Sports reported Sunday that the Giants tested two footballs used in the game in Pittsburgh and questioned their inflation level. Fox Sports reported that the Giants then alerted the league.
"We did not file a complaint," a Giants official told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: AFC Championship - Pats/Colts
Kind of a weird thing all the way around since the Giants and the Steelers are the two most closely aligned ownership groups in the NFL and possibly in sports history.
