The Great Glove Work & Defense Thread

Post by wlu_lax6 »

So we have a Great Goals Thread. Felt like we needed to reward the other side of the ball.
This is a beauty from last night's O's-Twins game. Solid reaction time and top notch "Just doing my job" after the play

Biggest surprise it is just some young punk with a batting helmet. Feel like some teams go the eye candy route.

Yeah, in San Francisco, they go with old geezers who aren't quick enough to really help out all that much. Theoretically, those guys and women are there to protect the relievers and catchers warming up and/or the fans on the lines, but their ability to field the ball is a bit of a joke, usually.

Every spring, I chat with my season ticket customer service rep. She always asks if there is anything she can do for me. I always say the same thing. 'Put me on the waiting list to be a ball geezer (the term of art, coined by Krukow, is 'Ball Dude') for April 2022'. I'll be 65yo. Last year she said I can do it now, but I'm way to young. And, rest assured, my stirrup socks will be perfect.
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

That makes me think of the book Ball Four, and how Jim Bouton would always have to try to convince and cajole the bullpen catcher to catch him when he wanted to throw between starts. It was a funny part of the book.

Also, you're not getting MLB $$. Maybe LOOGY is the best job in sports.

If only there was a job where all you had to was swing a bat really hard 4 times. (Or 3 if you're on the Twins)

Again...who needs a glove? Also, this was incredibly stupid by the pitcher.
