So, Duclair and a first for a year of Yandle and a 6th rounder, eh?

Would have thought the Rangers would have received more for him.

You forgot about the 2nd and also please go to hell.

(I think I'm in the stat-y Rangers group that didn't want to sign Yandle. He's a massive loss short term but we don't need a third defenseman signed into their mid-30s. Still surprised we didn't get more with Vesey going for a 3rd and (the inferior) Goligoski a 5th.)

Kinda weird to see the NHL Awards show in the same venue I regularly watch concerts in.

When Patrick Kane talks, it's almost like he's an alien who is trying to impersonate what he thinks a human being sounds like.

Maybe he will get better as he continues to load trophies into what I can only assume will be a wheelbarrow.

No disrespect to Ed Snider, but not exactly psyched that the NHL's way of honoring Gordie Howe was basically like a lengthy tribute to Snider and then "and by the way, Gordie Howe died too".

Pretty sure you're required to call him "Mr. Snider".

Also, I read a rumor the Blackheaks are trying to dump off Kruger. Another great decision by Bowman.

Pretty interesting point about merchandising in this article.

Regardless of success on the ice, Las Vegas might be one of the top markets in the NHL for merchandise sales (even after the novelty wears off).
“If I can’t sell a lot of jerseys in Las Vegas to 42 million people that come here, then I’m not a very successful salesman or businessman,” Foley said.

“My goal is to make it an international brand, so people come from China or they come from Europe, and they walk away and they’re wearing our jerseys, wearing our hats, wearing our T-shirts, have gym bags and so on.”

The Yandle deal with the Panthers is ridiculous. 7 years 45 mill. Do NHL teams even negotiate? Why is this the sport that just throws money away and then locks the players out every 7 years.

Maybe Florida management figures Yandle will be like Gordie Howe and play at a high level into his forties. Yeah, that's it. That's the ticket.

I imagine about 20% of my twitter account is arguing with other mostly like-minded Rangers fans about Yandle and his relative worth. I think he's a very good offensive 2LD who *needs* to be sheltered to avoid neutralizing his gains. Others think he's a legit top 1LD without caveats. The impossible-to-prove piece is what happens if you run him out there 25 minutes per night without concern for zone starts and matchups, because he hasn't done that at all ...

(It should probably be noted that the last time I strayed from the stathead Rangers fan consensus it was also on an exiting defenseman and I ended up being very wrong.)

I'm hesitant. Subban's contract is an anchor. Draisaitl is cheap right now and a powerful center. And the 4th pick is probably Dubois or Tkachuk.

I guess moving that Datsyuk cap space wasn't that hard after all.

He's the most attractive possible empty cap hit, so I guess that's something. Seems like a bunch of times the cost to move up 4-6 picks was massive this year.

Well, at least they didn't trade Teravainen so they could keep Shaw.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Good return for a guy they weren't going to sign anyway. I'm good with it.

But, BSF, if they weren't going to sign Shaw anyway, why trade away Teuvo? Think there is another shoe yet to drop? Or, I guess maybe that was just the price they had to pay to unload Bickell's contract.

I'm firmly in the camp that believes if you're Carolina taking Bicks contract, you demand Teuvo in the package. I'm not confident they we're going to be able to sign him either, but there's no way that wasn't a package deal.

When the immediate reaction to a move you just made is to determine whether it is the "worst trade ever", that can't be good.

What an afternoon! Very pleasantly surprised that the Stamkos AAV is $8.5. Can't believe how one sided those other trades are.

Meh. Subban is an attention whore. He did everything required of him when it came to team publicity, practices and games. But after that it was Subban Time! Sure he donated 10 million dollars to a Children's Hospital here in Montreal but that was probably for tax reasons. Not that he didn't care about the children there, he visited all the time. But in the end, it was just about him being noticed.

oh, and also, he is a greedy player that gives away the puck too much and tries to do a lot by himself. Sure when it works, it looks amazing but I'd rather have a Weber on my team.
