Their DH choices are down to Reuben Tejada and Ramiro Peña. (not exactly, but only a small exaggeration.)

I don't want him to get hurt, but I'll laugh if this blows up in their face.

Doubled in his first AB. Didn't hurt himself sliding into second. He will be hitting sixth his next start.

eta: Ken Brett, the last pitcher to do this, (but he had plenty of pre-DH and NL seasons) has a .262 lifetime BA.

Bumgarner isn't a good hitter.

I really want him to enter the HR derby and hit 0 HRs so he shuts the fuck up about hitting such a strong .175.

Or set him up against seven quad-A sluggers to embarrass him. I bet he'd blame his BP pitcher. He seems like that type.

It's technically July, but fuck it. Happy Bobby Bonilla Day, Mets fans.

My favorite part of this whole clusterfuck is that the only reason the Mets made the deal is because Wilpon was investing with Bernie Madoff and thought it would make back the deferred money to Bonilla 10 times over. Yeah, about that...

I didn't know this until recently, but the Braves are paying Bruce Sutter until 2021. And he's getting more money than Bonilla!

One day our kids may well be laughing at the Nationals writing $10M checks to a 50 year old Max Scherzer. (Well, not yours or my kids, Sabes, but you know what I mean.)

Or about Detroit still paying Cabrera.

Well they haven't deferred that money (yet).

ETA: To be clear I was referring to Scherzer only because he has a deal with a lot of money deferred into at least his late 40s. Cabrera's deal is more like A-Rod's. Onerous, but done at age 41 at least. (And yes I know A-Rod's is 42.)

I think the Jays lead the league in players thrown out in the 1st inning.

Strike zone is ridiculous right now. Tomlin hardly strikes out anyone. He's stuckout 5 of the first 6 Jays (3 looking)

Ryan Goins warming up in the pen in a tied game is one of the weirder things I've seen. IF the game goes to the 18th, he's coming in.

14 in a row. New franchise record. All available pitchers used except Cody Allen, who wasn't going to pitch anyway because he'd been used three straight games.

Interesting game, to say the least.

Who starts tomorrow? Bauer was used for 5 innings today.

To be determined. I suspect they'll need to make a roster move.

Apologies to our Cincinnati and former-Cincinnati denizens, but thank god for the Reds. The Cubs are 1-10 in their last 11 non-Reds games.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Royals pitched Young Wang Pounders tonight (in that order). Dickey started for Toronto.
